    I got a N97, and although happy with the hardware, is really unhappy about the Symbian OS. Slow response, bad UI (whether you are comparing to iPhone or the new Android or N900). Hopefully, they remove the ridiculous C/D/E drives and just use the unix unified file layout. If they hadn't done this, my next phone probably wouldn't be a Nokia phone.

    I know about 3000 people driving Toyota, and one guy driving BMW. And, now that I think about it, at least 2500 Toyota users have had the car into service multiple times. That mechanic with the BMW just keeps his car going, and going, and going, and going. I think maybe he's getting some of the Energizer Bunny

    If you leave everything set to auto-login, then you are asking for trouble. Amazingly, many still seem to do this, even though they are often young enough to have never been brought up to the bad habits people acquired with DOS.

    I got a newer model EeePC, 1101HA, 250 GB harddisk with 11.6" screen and got 9+ hours (closer to 10, and yes, I've tested that).

    Many ISPs in Norway only offer the pipes. No email, web site, news or anything. And the service is much better (faster) than what I had when I lived in the Bay Area (AT&T)

    Every April, you get pre-filled form. If you disagree with the return, you just update with the correct information. If you do, you just send in the finished form.

    Giving someone a casual gift. You can easily write a cheque as a birthday or wedding gift, knowing just the recipient's name. In those situations, it could be socially awkward to ask for the recipient's account information.

    Depends on your definition of "deprecate" and "decade". As late as last year (2008), the kernel people were still working on removing it.

    Yes, you have user installable apps, but that's only if you're willing to hunt all over for apps or if your network provides it through their price jacked store.

    How is having multiple sources for your apps make it as bad as Apple for vendor lock-in?

    I don't need Nokia's approval, nor my carrier's approval for that matter, to download and install Opera Mini or GMail. If I want ringtones or new wallpaper graphics, I can just copy it to the phone. If I want games, there has always been several places I can buy them from at different places.
