Thats what I thought. Then I realized this is perfect timing for people to start appreciating Ubuntu, Linux in general, Open Office, and all the other community produced open/free products that compete with microsoft.
Hey Microsoft! Thanks for making the future of Linux more widespread and likely! Thanks for making it easy, for those that don't yet know, to realize what a crap company you are compared to companies that make free products!
Of course they could have been driving around lost on bad route info with an automated camera happily snapping photos and videos.
It would be wise, then, to assess the actions you may unintentionally take part in, and the legality of such action.
Of course they could also have been privately approached by a foreign intelligence service, manipulated by means easily induced, and asked to use their job as a cover while procuring specific tasked media.
Sounds like the reckless are finding recourse for reckless disregard. I've posted prior on this topic that they are lucky they weren't caught on my own property, ignorantly or not.
I find it very interesting, and somewhat ironic, that the most powerful home gaming console in history has people programing in mechanical gates.
Very cool indeed.
Unless you were trying to make a joke, I'm not sure if you understand the difference between how games are made for the PS3 (by developers/producers) and how a user-level-creator within a specific game is being playfully used to expand the frontier of possibilities of that construct.
I am very pissed at these GPS mapping whores and taking pictures where they are not allowed to. I have had to report to google maps three times about locations that are private and were wrongfully (ignorantly) trespassed and photographed.
These guys are lucky to get arrested. If they were to follow the apparently standard M.O. of trespassing and illegal photography on my property they'd be leaving with slashed tires and a broken nose.
Actually, no, you can legally photograph nearly everything you can see from public land in the US. There are a few places where they're known to lack a sense of humor about it, but almost everything is fair game. (That said, there are a few rare restrictions on such things.)
Now understanding that this is the law in your country, and it is (apparently) clearly posted, well... yeah, they broke the law and got caught. As usual,/. distorts the story.
Actually, no, you cannot take pictures of many US Military installations. I was one of the guys who would apprehend you and take your camera from you. Please don't speak for America if you don't know enough to tell the truth.
These people had no sufficient or compelling reason to be photographing all those locations; they also took what sounds like a lot more than one or two pictures. I am a bit suspicious as to who told them to take so many and with such specific focus. From your quote from the article, this sounds a lot like deliberate IMINT collection.
I think putting a relative educated professional in the position is a good idea to try.
You call it a 'terrible idea', yet do you have substantial references and evidence to back that up? Or is this just a slander attempt (aka: political game)?
Sorry, I'm a scientist. I believe data, not opinion.
I went to Elizabethtown College (PA) and even though there were 2 girls for every guy, I still found it difficult to gain entrance into that "sanctuary" known as the female dorm room. I think the women tended to ignore the man and find comfort in each other.
Trust me. I'm married...... women are complex, emotional creatures who need a whole lot of care and feeding.... Taking care of one spouse is difficult enough......
Sounds like your wife is a big eater.
sorry for ya, dude. if you're american, at least she fits in, right?
Downloading software is no longer a valid business use? Why, because P2P is only used for illegal purposes? You must be in management if that's your line of thinking.
So, since you seem to know the OP's business so well, which programs available on Limewire would be of use to the business?
That's nothing. I'll have the world's most powerful supercomputer in a month. This is what I do... See.. they took 200 cabinets and added that to the already present 84....
This is how I win. I add 400 cabinets!
AHAHAHHAHAa!!! I GOT THE MOST POWERFUL ONE NOW! MUAHAHAHAHAH 200 ain't shit on my 400!...... I just hope noone else can imagine a number greater than 400 and beat me....
I can only hypothesize, as I will not make the effort to conduct the research, that there are many more cases of environmentalists that have the same preference as I do.
Bill of Rights.
You gotta be fucking kidding me ...

I'm a troll for speaking truth? Thanks slashdot, thank you for your biased mods.
gave it a shot. facts and opinions are not clearly provided and references are largely not from credentialed literature (such as research journals).
I don't trust this article. Will not finish reading.

It is still illegal to take pictures of the facilities from public land. FYI.

GPS information is an official secret?
"Where am I?"
"You have no right to know that."
Nice joke, but it is out of context of what the issue is. These people took photographs of places they are forbidden to take photographs of.
Read the articles. It is very clear that these people violated laws, and though they may claim ignorance, we all know that ignorance is no excuse.
Here's a simple rule of thumb: Don't take pictures of any government or military facilities unless you know for sure that it is ok to do so.

lmao.
buying bank accounts in bulk is soo..... 2007...
Precisely.

(ducks a spitball)
2 words: money + coke
did you think they wanted a nice guy?
Mormons have not had plural marriages in well over a century.
who gives a shit?
mormons are theotards of the highest caliber.
Trust me. I'm married. ..... women are complex, emotional creatures who need a whole lot of care and feeding .... Taking care of one spouse is difficult enough......

Since gnash can play youtube video, this isn't a restriction in practice. Much ado about very little.
I agree. Youtube is perfectly fine for pretty much anyone with the bandwidth to view the videos.
Obama offered to do this; he is not obligated. If given something for free, one ought not complain and simply not accept that which has been offered.

WHAT IS THE WORD? I have been scanning this garbage for long enough!
WHAT IS THE DAMN 13 letter word!
You guys are being creepy. Girls don't like creepy dudes leering at them all the time.
No.. its not that.... The obvious answer is begged by this question: who keeps a computer in the kitchen or the bedroom?
"A data center in the Netherlands using this approach only has to use chillers 11 days a year."
Umm.. yeah... the netherlands is generally a cold place. Not really saying much if the listener knows a little something about geography and weather.
The article is not about Obama choosing Ted Stevens, so I'm not quite onboard with your analysis here....
I always knew you could pull it off!!

For some reason I don't think they're sweating over the loss of a customer who can't even start sentences properly.
good job. Internet = formal english paper.
gtfo son.

Nice try, anonymous coward.
