The founding fathers of America recognised the danger of interspersing religion with state. If you do the research, you'll also find that most of them were deists - which was pretty much as close as you could get to athiest, back then. Anything more radical than a deist was considered godless and wretched at best.
The introduction of religious elements (such as "in god we trust" on money, swearing on the bible, etc) came at a much later date. All founding fathers (the creators of the Declaration of Independence) had long since expired.
It's sad that this was modded troll. Mostly because it wasn't a creationist that modded it troll (these are actually creationist beliefs and it wouldn't make sense to mod them down).
In order for creationism and evolution to be present at the same time, one of them has to be significantly wrong. For example, evolution is 100% correct and all god did was create a cell in antarctica. Or, creationism is 100% correct and evolution hasn't had a chance to kick in over the pitiful 6000 year existence of the earth and the overwhelming body of evidence for evolution is an incredibly massive set of individual coincidences.
Of course, the more you think about it and try to solve the contradictions inherent in "god made all creatures as they currently are" vs "all creatures, as they currently are, evolved from a single-celled organism", you will enivitably come across the realisation that... creationism is redundant and 100% not needed to explain anything.
It's that second world thing. There are horror stories, like the one of a husband addicted to raiding in WoW - he missed the birth of his daughter and basically his marriage was destroyed. The game was partly to blame for sure, but I suspect that there's a deeper cause: this secondary world was substantially better than his primary world.
I don't know anything about this man's life apart from the facts, but I would LOVE to know his life situation. Does he enjoy his job? Does he still love his wife? Is he prone to depression? Is he comfortable with the commitment of a marraige and child? Does he have any/many friends outside of the game? How would he rate his own life?
My bet is that he'd rate it pretty damn low. WoW's fun. Most people handle this well. People who have never played an MMO, or an RPG, or even a PC game at all, won't fare as well as experienced gamers... they're more likely to lose track of time and their life. But combine this with a shitty life and the gamer is seriously in danger of prioritising the game.
until I heard about the draconian anti-consumer software installed (because that's what it is. anti consumer), so now I'm going to just wait for it to be cracked (one day? two?) and pirate it on principle. Anything more than a CD key can eat my dick.
I was referring to the end of ep 3 where they had all those robot doctors/assistants running around replacing his body parts, not the body parts themselves
Hospital robot = sounds much too practical and boring. Unless they can turn me into Darth Vader, I want no part of it.
Mechanical Squirrels on the other hand is where all the R&D should be at. High tech enough to follow me wherever I go; through water, lava, speeding down the road at supersonic speeds. The sheer volume of applications would be tremendous.
Well John, as you know, I lack immensely in the art skills department. I'm quite good at programming though and have set up a net trawler with some rudimentary AI. I used it to mesh together a set of characters based on the average appearance of a certain subset of people (for each character), but it bugs out with expressions. I also trawl the net for knock knock jokes and string them out a bit.
Heh, coincidentally -- and you're going to love this -- I found the address to your mother's house. Yeah, I'm ploughing her as I type this.
A decisive rebuttal. Sir, I bow at your skill in the field of debate; you have calmly and firmly addressed all points in order and responded with a truly crushing array of counter arguments. I have no choice but to fold before your ruthless, but fair and quite impressive, onslaught.
Ever since watching Office Space and Wanted I've always viewed corporate initiatives as soul-crushing mediocrity. Now they're trying to combine my favourite escape from life, gaming, with said soul-crushing mediocrity. NOoooooOOOoooooooooooooooo

In short: addiction need never enter the picture.

Welcome to Aus and NZ game prices.

When I saw Tel Aviv I instantly thought Morrowind. But wait, don't those guys already live in tree houses? Hell, Tel Aviv is a giant mushroom house.
He said Spank.
You know, like, masturbation.

I cringed for the entirety of those last three sentences. Then I read them again. WHY? WHY WOULD I DO THAT?!

In NZ, caps are anything from 1gb to 80gb (expensive!). You guys will be fine.
In Monopolised New Zealand, internet caps YOU!!
It means your business model is inherently flawed and you must rely on arbitrary laws and regulations to keep it propped up. Or, fix it.
...all you need to do is want some software they make. That's not foolish in the least.
I disagree.
They must have recently cast Blessing of Protection to get away from an anti-trust lawsuit.
That's it? What's offensive about that? I don't understand at all :(
So rare that even you aren't using it correctly :)
It's opinionated prattle.
- You don't like the art
- You don't like the jokes
- You don't like the characters
There's nothing more to your post unless you count the vitriolic spin.

I think the parent was more after reasons and not just opinionated prattle.
Matt Damon.
You don't like the concept?
Oh I get it -- you're saying it shouldn't be added because it's already been done.
No? Okay I'll guess again: you're saying it has already been done, therefore it is not worth mentioning.
Still no? Well, then what are you trying to add to this thread?
