    modern ones are so dependand, that you could say they do *need*, but then again, any computer with the right software and interfaces will do, say your laptop? as for the original ecu, well its electronics - meaning electricity, we can control it as much as we want, cuz all it *knows* are the impulses and radiowaves coming at it. rock on bro!

    USB? for flashdrives etc. OK, but HDD need SATA/FireWire or something speedier. i hurd that FireW S3200 had Cat5 support, so a tweak at the chipset or maybe firmware would make it into a great near-enterprise NAS thingy (how hard would it be to retrofit some firewire external enclosures to use Cat5, hmm..). But i have to agree, USB would be awesome on these things, and we'll always love'em, at least until they release desktops/laptops with ARM/MIPS CPUs...

    they can spend all the time they want, just get rid of the unrealisticaly low RF power limit, and IEEE 802.11g will serve us well for years to come, besides it would then be intruiging as a cheap last-mile infrastructure for small ISPs.

    not when im liable to kill someone. ;) also, just having something in the schedual saying "sex edu." doesnt make it so, were the isssues and possible complications properly adressed, or whas it an abstinance preaching?did the kids take it seriously? and frankly, teen pregnancy is not that much of an issue per se , as much as moral outrage, i mean, the medical system is quite capable of handling it, and a new child in the household doesn take up resources more than a new little brother, and families routinely cope with those.

    hardware and driver integration to VMs and a couple of GUI tweaks is all it takes. Besides, wat does it take to use a slightly fancier CPU with hardware virtualization enchancment, and run windows near native and paralel with xen.

    PS:widows licences are not a problem, near every PC sold comes with one, the second they become scarece, we wont need WINE.

    First, that was a real question,since i am definatly no super-geek, i cant even figure out how to set my screen brightness, i was asking how hard is it for a developer/team. Second, why do you think i propose lexmark/place-vendor-here to do anything, i KNOW they wont do anything. My idea was that the FOSS community uses this excelent driver framework, so that means THEY will do the porting, which im pretty sure is easier than supporting ALL those in kernel drivers. All the vendors have to do is release Mac drivers, and we'll reuse them as is.
