Pretty pls, somebody get the electric specs for sim cards and start selling usb dongles with sim slots, my laptop can trounce ANY fsckin' phone on the market. i just want to use it as a phone with infanat extendability and wireless WWW.
    OR
hold on, WiMAX is geting along great, speed/price near cable/DSL/LAN. i'll just use skype with a handsfree. who needs phone, we got fuckin PC!!

now, seriously what the market realy needs is an OLPC on steroids. best wi-fi, long batery life powerfull enogh to be used as general purpose pc by most, why not just improve the concept, and add an optional sim slot? not like providers can lock us in this time. all the sim card 'sees' is el. imulses, all the towers 'hear' are radiowaves.
they cant under any condition diferentiate between a given phone, and a properly programed SDR.

not everything on the charts is crap, but i have to agree, they only cover the least common denominator in people's taste, which can be defined as mediocker and non-anoying, so the charts are only a very general representaion of people's fancy at the moment, your tastes should define it, not vice-versa.
SOme other people's more exotic and rebelious, or flat out controversial preferences in music, for instance, are not covered at all due to censorship or other reasons

ease of use? FOSS OSes are damn easier to use considering ~=0 sec. problems, and not via obscurity or 'nobody writes malware for it cuz of unpopularness'. in the case of windows, H/S support are gains, but only because they were there first, besides, any issues with those are almost always easy to work around but people have execive amounts of inertia and lazyness, i guess we can just keep improving out-of-the box expeiriance. and Mac OS X ... , the second somebody sets up compiz/ROX desktop on PC-BSD, and pipeline linux drivers from paravirt VM in the kernel, we'll wipe the floor with it, unless legaly clobbered by apple. anybody know good programers in russia?
