No, the cool part is ASIO compadibility and 2ms latency. This card is more designed for music creation (cubase etc) than just home end game sound. Before no soundblaster cards were supported in Cubase for lack of ASIO compadibility. The live had some shitty half assed drivers I believe though.
$499 is more than I'd ever pay for an X-box, hell, i payed the same for my 800mhz Duron with 32mb nvidia card and everything loaded.
I'll just wait till a week or a month after it comes out for someone to write an emulator for the computer, only hard part will be the video card, which I'm sure they can figure out.
Id've thought it would've been a little more than that. While its only an IRC network, I'm suprised no one better than *ack* AOL *ack* looked into it.
New amazing technology never comes around.

Wow, sound's like it could be usefull for CERTAIN things, but still amazing nonetheless. I always hear of this amazing new technology coming out, FPGA Supercomputers, solid state hard drives, REAL 3D monitor's that cost $5 to make from existing LCD displays, emulated gills to breathe under water, etc.
I just wish some of these things could make it to my house. Is it because of the ridicilous marketing and business planning that these inventions depend on to succeed, or is it just because they don't want to market these ideas and sell them to dead end companies?
I'm not totally sure, but i'd like to know whats stopping some of these things from making it to the end user.
A lot of people are going to complain that if DirectX ever works well in linux, it's hurting linux. Really though, if we take [legally] what's around to take from DirectX, we could essentially use the work Microsoft has done (not all of DirectX is horrible, a lot of games look good). Then we could maybe even add on to it and make it an new open programming interface. I dunno, just some thoughts.
Is the "sms thingy" the secure message option or something? If that's what I'm thinking of, than the newiest version of Licq for linux supports that feature, check it out at here.
When I quickly read this I thought what the hell is goin on with slashdot anymore. "Monkeybone" looked like the years dumbest movie. And as for ANY Chris Rock paraphanalia, especially this movie, just shut your big fuckin mouth.
No matter who your talking about, presidents of big companies are always talking out of their ass. Networked games are great buddy, now if a company were smart enough to get it working right out of the box and working on BROADBAND out of it too, good. Another feature systems need is dual tv support for 2 players, that'd be sweet, I hate split screen and have 2 tv's. I wish the dreamcast would've made a better hit, marketing killed it, it has some great games though (shenmue). Oh well.
What this is about are operating systems that just don't sell well enough. Since they can't compete comercially with windows and microsoft, they think if they make it free for "personal use" than they can save themselves and make people happy. Welp, it really doesn't make any sense for either parties, they aren't going to make any money, and not many non-commercial users aren't going to use it for their desktop OS. Just give everyone a break and start releasing things under GPL!
Just because Maxtor "owns" Quantum, doesn't mean that the've interfered with their factories or quality, quantum still pumps out nice hard drives. Everyone has known for, well ever, that maxtor drives are just cheapier in price and quality.
Well, personally, I can't remember ceirtian types of things. Whether it is because I simply don't pay attention to them, or maybe it's because I smoke too much. Maybe a lot of young people (maybe a larger number of nerds) are just potheads. Hehe, oh well, go ahead and moderate me down for sayin that.
My thought on what de-ja vu is, is when your mind realizes that the past, present, and the future are all happening at once. Kinda got this thought from Koda, psycom.com
Have it powering an oxygen machine, and have the oxygen machine power the backup system!
There was no atomic bomb being close to developed, you can get some accurate information. here

I never liked to be the one caught with a dick in my mouth.
When was the last time you've seen an open source project start at version 1.0. That was more obvious that 0%.

Try this, I have a Cordless MouseMan Wheel and this works....
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "imps/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Buttons" "6"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Not to mention ego-less-ness, oustanding visuals, and increased apprecation to music!
Shut the fuck up, I can smell a shitty movie a mile away.

The last time I dropped acid I noticed the pixels of my eyes. Everything looked like a computer monitor, was pretty cool. :)
The same households that have enough money to shell out $300 for a playstation II of course.

They even have my favorite movie, The Chicken of Tommorrow! Hehe, well maybe someone will make use of these movies with a cheap(er) rippoff of mst3k.
