  1. Team on Anxiety and IT? · · Score: 1

This 'team' thing that managers keep banging on about. It swings both ways. If the manager can't be arsed to ensure that things keep going without any one person, then they've f*cked up. End of the day, the IT person doing a job, just does that job. It's the manager's job to ensure that someone else could step in, should something happen. So don't sweat it. If things collapse in a smoking heap just because you're absent, that's the manager's f*ck up, not yours. And no sane employment tribunal will see it any other way.

Think of it less in terms of restoring civil liberties, and more in terms of saving money. Governments love to spy on people. Even the more liberal parties, once they see all the information they have available, get drawn in. But if it comes down to a choice between scrapping something that costs a lot of money and infringes civil liberties, versus keeping it and having your 'we need to reduce the deficit and quickly' message look silly, they'll get rid of it. Comes to something when the only way to restore democracy is to put the country in massive debt.

  3. Suddenly everything becomes clear on $1 Trillion In Minerals Found In Afghanistan · · Score: 1

Ahhh..... Suddenly this hardon about staying in Afghanistan makes sense, despite leaving oil-rich Iraq some time ago. Seems odd they were looking, given that they're only (allegedly) there to prevent global terrorism and make afghanistan a peaceful democracy. Not like you accidentally probe for deeply buried minerals. And the gag? Even if they weren't looking for this, they'd now have to stay to prevent these riches falling into the hands of the Taliban and funding more 9/11s.

...those Labour MPs that didn't would have faced severe consequences, perhaps even eviction from the party...

Either they really believed that or they didn't.

If they're did, then they're too thick to even be MPs. Labour are already looking at either being the opposition to the conservatives, or looking to be the opposition to a Conservative+Liberal alliance. They need every labour MP onside that they can get. Any 'severe' consequences would be tantamount to throwing in the towel come the election.

If they didn't believe that, they voted for this because they wanted to. And are too corrupt to be MPs.

    Get one yourself

Cos this sort of comment only ever translates into one thing: "Get a life that is worthless in the same way as mine"

And what harm has he done anyone? Does he beat the crap out of people because they're wearing a different colour football shirt? Does he hang about with his friends on street corners and cause trouble?

    No

He made a choice, and done pretty damn well. It's not like he's tried to do something and fail at doing it.

Sure you could argue it's only a game. So is chess. And tennis. And soccer. And football. And note that there's been no incident of WoW hooliganism ever (compare to football in the UK).

Sure he doesn't have millions in cash or a supermodel girlfriend. Neither do any of the people accusing this guy of having no life, while watching reality TV and soap operas (like I said, their only complaint is that his life isn't hollow in the same way as theirs).

If you don't like what he's done, then sod off cos it's done nobody any harm and no one asked for your approval.

If it harmed him in any way, he chose to do this to himself in the same way as someone going out on the town every Weekend with their friends harms their liver by drinking too much alcohol. And no one's accusing them of having no life, even if they and their 'friends' need booze to enjoy themselves (why? don't they like each other sober?).

It's not the people who harm no-one and concentrate on the one thing that shit all over this world.

At the moment they can't compete, this is true. But then, everything starts small. Refined bacteria (breed bacteria batches separately, see which produces the most oil, keep the best producers, rinse and repeat) and other things will make the process more efficient. I hope this is for real, and i hope even more that it allows for a domestic (or even portable within a car boot) waste-to-oil converter.
