New virus infects all government computers in Iran which tried running Google software. (Could this be a clever cover for why Iran Gov. IPs are in the exe's of the software?)

Yes, and the virtual sex is just as good too, right?

Not to mention that a large part of the value of a âoerealâ thing is its potential rarity. A girl with pretty eyes might be one in a million and therefore looking into those eyes has a substantial emotional value. An avatar with pretty eyes is as common as a copy command and therefore has almost no intrinsic value since your copy is no better than that person's over there.

More importantly, how would you ever know that the voice was real and not just your imagination. The flaw in the program here is that anyone hearing a voice in their head would think it was their own imagination and need further proof that it was intentional anyway. Voice: In 2 minutes your phone will ring. Might as well have delivered the message by phone. Although I suppose that after initial contact you could use this technology to maintain contact. I also expect that the sound would involve a very painful sensation, and that would probably tip you off to its verasity...???

Just a thought, but I would say that 3 billion operations should be enough for just about any linear logic you could need solved. Where we run into trouble is in trying to use single processes to solve problems that should be solved in parallel. If having a thousand cores means that we can now run things much more efficiently in parallel, then maybe people will finally start breaking their problems up that way. As long as you can only count the cores up on one hand, your potential benefit from multithreading your problem is low compared to the effort of debugging. Once you have a lot of cores, the benefit increases significantly. (I see this helping a lot in image processing, patern recognition, and natural language... not to mention robotics and general AI...)

We started off the spring this time with more 1st year ice than last year... that means that so far, the melt is happening faster. Although it does seem to have slowed down in the last couple of weeks. Still, we won't really know what's going on till we see how much of this year's ice sticks around long enough to make it to next year.

Problem with 1st year ice is that it covers a lot of area but is really thin, so it melts away pretty quickly once things warm up.

Point is you can still visit the black listed sites and install black listed software to your heart's content, you just have to use the secured VPC to do that part. Keeps you secure, and if you really need a piece of black listed software, you just call down to IT and get it white listed. 13. Question is on Cisco CSO Says Antivirus Money "Completely Wasted" · · Score: 1

The real question is why are people having such a problem with this issue in the corporate world.

Set up the PC's to only use / install / visit white listed sites / software.

Set up a secondary network of Virtual PCs running on people's PCs for any non-white listed activities under the assumption that you (or IT) can blow away the VPC at any time. With file transfers between the networks only allowed through a regulated FTP server.

    Am I missing something?

Oh yeah, and keep the production servers from having any access to the internal network. (although I assume that didn't need to be said.)

Actually, if the "blessed" P2P software calls home to an approving server with each up/download, you're pretty much at their mercy. (At least that's how I would design it if I was an evil bastard.) An easy protocol (this might be their reason for the investment) would be both clients call home for a key, and the clients will only talk to e/o if the key matches. If they wanted to they could even piggyback their protocol on top of what is being used by the current P2P apps, (and in that way allow you to search their clients) but only allow a download with the key. i imagine that eventually frustration if nothing else would drive most of Comcast's users to use "their" software...

    Just a guess.

If google really wants to "Do good, don't be evil", I would accept that they needed to comply with the request of the Indian legal authorities in handing over this man's IP... However, having seen the Indian government's use of that information, they should redirect any searches coming from an Indian IP for the next three days to a message raking the Indian government over the coals for their behavior. If they did THAT, then I might still buy their slogan. You can be forgiven for incidentally doing a little evil if you then make up for it in the larger scheme of things.
