Its time for the private sector to start doing the manned flight inspiring
When is the last time the private sector did anything "inspiring"? The private sector is best known for greed, self-interest, and only doing what will get them a buck this quarter - long-term be damned. Not exactly "inspiring".
I agree that's a problem, but that is a big incentive for NASA to push money into the commercial sector to bring the costs down ASAP later. This is what they're focusing on now.
Well, we had the X-Prize and the winner was Burt Rutan, and now with the second generation Virgin Galactic vehicle commercial space flight is almost a reality, and it didn't cost $6 billion. Lets throw Burt and Sir Richard a billion over 5 years and I bet they can come up with something better
I commute by public transportation (bus and subway) in the land of the NY Post. There are3 main dailies available in the morning: The NY Times, The Daily News and The Post. Personally I wouldn't read the Post if it were free, however a lot of people do read it because it is cheaper than the other two choices. These people are blue collar workers and some buy the Times, a larger percentage buy the Daily News but the vast majority buy the Post which is price at 50% of the News and 1/3 tghe price of the Times.
I tend to hate political correctness. I'm Polish and laugh at Polish jokes, also Italian jokes, Spanish jokes etc. I think everyone should just take a pill and relax.
"very accurate in its portrayal of humans as evil, greedy, stupid, and amoral, with a few exceptions."
I don't think this is completely correct. Using WW II as an example, human beings CAN and will (I hope) pull together in a time of crisis. In WW II fighting the Axis, we were fighting against a threat to our very way of life, and not only the US but its allies came together, forgot petty differences, and defeated it.
I'm a subscriber of Make Magazine and have been known to cobble together an occasional project. I love working wit my hands and understanding why things work. I've been to Maker Fairs in NY City and marvel at things I don't know yet that I'd like to. I don't buy the kits from the maker shed as I find them a bit expensive, preferring to source my own components.
Richard Branson and Burt Rutan, a realistic "Dynamic Duo". Instead of being 5-10 years away space tourism is fairly close. What I'd like to see is what's planned for Spaceship 3 and 4.
Refused to buy a Kindle because it's only good for 1 thing. My Netbook has 4 reader programs (Kindle, Epub, Mobiepocket, and PDF Reader) so I can buy books from any seller. I search across the tubes to see who has the book I want for the best price. in addition I can borrow books from the library with PDF Reader
I've recently been corresponding with a woman who lives in a beautiful town in Central Mexico. I've learned about what it's like to live in a country so poverty stricken that it's main industry is illegal aliens living in the US sending money back home for their relatives, and tourism.
She teaches English and Philosophy at 2 universities in her state (there are 7 other schools close by) and they are attended by the upper class because that's the only people who can afford them. Yes, food is cheap, as are living expenses, but almost everything else is expensive because of import duties.
"Up until this point, we've had some big issues. We've had lift as high as 12 tonnes, and when you consider the car is six-and-a-half tonnes at its heaviest - that amount of lift is enough to make the car fly,"

NASA does a hell of a lot more than just launch people into space.
yes it does. It purchases launching people into space service from Russians.
If you understood TFA, this program is to eliminate that
Only on Fox.
It's rumored to be a summer replacement for "Fringe"
Actually, I would think (just off the top of my head) that any filtering can and will be overcome, given the correct knowledge.

I call BS. A friend of mine who is Chinese, moved to rural Georgia a while ago and hasn't met with one iota of bigotry or racism.
Hyuck Hyuck. Squeal like a pig
Do they smoke because they're stupid, or stupid because they smoke?

We can't end the war on drugs because it's good for "business"
OK, if you use that argument, what about a targeted killing by a sniper? Isn't that the same? How do we know the sniper is killing a terrorist?
1, 2, 3, 4, I declare a patent war
Let's be realistic, they use copy and paste like everyone else
Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. But it must pay pretty well
Well, Duh
