Microsoft is evil.
Linux is jesus.
Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds are my personal heros.
Microsoft is evil.
Microsoft likes to take control of the industry.
This is the year of the linux desktop.
It is subconscious a lot of the time- but this happens a LOT in the industry. You'd be surprised. I mean- programming is for programmers- why would it have to be easy 99% of the time? (Note- this is the view point of the people i'm talking about- not mine)
That just isn't how microsoft operates, and it never will be. They are just too damned competitive, they must have their hand in every cookie jar. Its probably why they're so successful.
Simple. Images load in the background and fade in once loaded. They use DHTML. With proper coding, DHTML is a lot more powerful than people give it credit for being.
I wonder if it is the same AC that says this every time microsoft invents something.
Just because you don't like microsoft does not mean they have never pushed the envelope. They do it all the time.
I think this will see lots of use, you could use it as a pretty nifty control panel, as a TV, or if you just need a computer for the internet, this would be great for that too.
Whenever you install a new operating system theres a chance you will have some compatability issues with it. It isnt as if microsoft could go out and made sure that every application and every driver on the planet didnt use X process or X outdated utility to connect, but that isnt the fault of the OS. In order for them to make any changes to the OS, they have to remove some things.
Psion only is bothering to do this for publicity. Honestly I had never heard of psion before this nonsense started. I mean, what else would propel them to make this infringement claim? They dont plan on using the term for any products, and they probably cant beat the mighty army of dell lawyers that they will be washed in.
At my place of employment, we still use IE6 because many of our systems don't render properly on IE7/8. I hope this update will be received by our IT, so that we can finally get those bloody systems updated.
I'm not holding too much hope though.
The market share argument is old and tired. People try to hack servers all the time, most servers run linux. I'm not a proponent of either operating system, they both have their strengths and their flaws, but their flaws in this instance are by design.
To use a metaphor, windows is a giant shopping mall that has hundreds of entrances and exits. There are security guards constantly running around locking doors, or building walls over them, but they are still there. By comparison, unix like systems are single houses that may have two doors.
I want to clear any notion that i'm a linux zealot though, personally I think a lot of the people who use it enjoy complexity a bit too much, and really dont care about mortals who just want to USE their computer.
I know, how dare a company work to sell a product.
Look- just because something carries a microsoft logo does not instantly make it evil and unstable. Microsoft has made a lot of good things in the past, even if they've also made a lot of shit. No one's perfect, and people seem biased against them for no good reason.
And no, I'm not being forced at gunpoint to say this!
And no! Dont call the police!
I dont see the big deal here. Governments would love to have direct control of operating systems, so that they can place undocumented "features" inside them. Even if they release the source code (which I suppose they have to, theoretically), 99.99% of the users who will be employing their distro will not be able to understand what source code even is, or how to interpret it.
Well, I guess there are still people (the people who are reading this message) who will be able to report any backdoors/home phoning they notice placed into the source, but that will only make a difference provided:
1- Cuba releases the source
2- The distro is popular enough to have people using it
3- People carefully examine the source code
4- Said examiners are able to spot a problem
5- Said problem is heard by the end users of the distro
6- End users of the distro have options as to what operating system they are able to use, if it is mandated by the government, they pretty much have to live with it.

Whoops I posted the second comment, forgot to login.

Are you stating that preventing descrimination based on one's sexual orientation is not a valid use of the court's time?
You know, people used to joke about giving blacks time in court.
One word:
Sue.

Actually, ATT air cards go through ATT Communication manager, which has a SMS interface, so yes, he would be able to get them.

I represent the public then. Most people haven't heard of Psion. I'm sorry if I offended you, but you don't have to sink to childish insults.

We all can bash silverlight, but but theres nothing wrong with it. Its a newer, and from what i've seen, more stable alternative to flash.
I bet you were one of the ones who complained that vista changed too many things.
Make up your mind.
