  1. That's IT. I've had it with the politics on /. on Ireland Votes Yes To Same-Sex Marriage · · Score: 0, Troll

I've had it with the political articles. There are plenty of websites for those. Slashdot USED to be "News for nerds, stuff that matters". I'm not saying this story doesn't matter. But it has no place in ANY tech forum. I will surely visit from time to time but will no longer follow on my FB page. Adios.

  2. I fail to see why online voting is necessary on Researchers Devise Voting System That Seems Secure, But Is Hard To Use · · Score: 1

Ditto the touchscreen voting machines and every other apparatus they come up with in their attempts to do away with the paper ballot, which has worked just fine for over 200 years. Just because it's more modern doesn't make it better.

I'm' trying to break into an IT career at age 42. Lots of personal but no employment experience in IT. "Go to college" they said. "It will help you break it." I graduate next year. So, will I be one of those "blank slates" like the ones young enough to be my kid or am I screwed before even applying?

I'm amazed by how society is tolerating this overt age discrimination. If all of us over 40 were black, this would have been solved years ago.

This is happening under the Obama admin. His people don't give 2 shits about H1B abuses (hi So. Cal. ConEd!) Sanders' actual party affiliation is Socialist. Obama is a Socialist who calls himself a Democrat so I hope you've learned your lesson here.

    But (I predict) probably not.

To do so implies that a camera is always trained on me when in fact, that's almost never the case. The article itself does make an interesting point about people being more reluctant to act like a fool when they know a stranger with a camera is likely to catch it all. But to call that a "surveillance society" is false sensationalism.

He clearly stated that he intended to take his life. I'm glad he was detained. A first repsonder is not in a position to decide if someone who just threatened suicide is telling the truth or not when they deny it. What if the cops just took him at his word and left? They'd be held liable if he really did intend to knock himself off. If he really WAS just testing FB, the proper thing to do is to alert authorities in advance. Go to the cop shop and discuss the experiment with them BEFORE you go making people legitimately freak out. But I give FB credit for having real people actually review the post instead of relying on computer text-parsing algorithms.

I am used to speaking the American version but who really cares anyway? My boss was is from the UK and except for the occasional accent difference, we understand each other perfectly.

This is nothing but another big gubbermint power grab. They're going to use this as an excuse to regulate the internet, something I think a majority of Slashdotters oppose. Then again, a majority of American Slashdotters voted for the socialist in the White House so I'd say the American people brought this upon themselves.
