Acceptable risk also encompasses collateral loss. So do not assume if we ever had awesome kill bots, we would just send them out all the time. Then you have to look at the cost of transport and maintenance. So in summary kill bots won't let us get into situations where we wouldn't intervene anyway.
2006 the Air Force decided to drastically reduce the amount of 3C0X1's (Sys Admins for all you Civi's) and move to centralized management. Mostly from the various NOSC's, and with the exception of some bright individuals most the 3C0X1's that I know that are still in are filling Work Group Manager position, while the majority of the actual IT work has been contracted out. The really bright individuals are now contractors. All this while the Air Force initially conceived "Cyber Command".
I'll agree as much as most people don't care about DRM, but as far as Gamers go it is a fairly big issue for them. The amount of public outcry and people boycotting the game for EA's ridiculous new model of DRM would beg to differ with the statistics.
Then again most gamers have a weak will when it comes to games, even if the DRM is heinous most will eventually break down just so they can experience the hype.
As much as I commend anyone or any business/org for standing up and fighting laws and policies that are inherently wrong; I think they are going about it the wrong way.
This issue is not likely to die easily and could have a huge impact on web commerce. That said while what Newegg is doing is great for PR it could very well bite their....
also it very much looks like the "use tax" is abusing the system and taking advantage of a loop hole to allow states to tax what is supposed to be federal domain.
Then again all this is just MHO, as I am not a lawyer or an expert on tax law.
I chalk this negative effect up to MMO culture, the "this game sucks my old game was better, the next game is going to be awesome". I was in closed beta of Lord of the Rings Online, and still have an active account, all people did was complain and say how they couldn't wait for Conan. Now those people moan about how Conan bites and they can't wait for WAR...
If you ignore the media hype for all these games, you tend not to form expectations of what it should be, and I think in many cases the fan boy culture of these type of games hypes the hype conjuring an experience that while awesome is impossible to implement
I've played a whole lot of MMO's and none of them have had stellar starts. Conan needs some polish but once they get some time to do so It'll be a great game. heck my wife even likes it which is a first.
Sounds like a form of music Communism to me...
I'd rather support and reward the artists (mostly their record companies as of right now) and musicians that i like rather than supporting all of them.
I also dislike the whole notion of adding it as an extra fee from the ISP. Leave them out of it; all the ISP should need to do is deliver me a connection, nothing else. You want a flat fee for downloading music start your own service. Don't try and force it on the ISP's.
You are apparently unaware of Google and Virgin Galatic's master plan to habitat Mars and use on of the moons as a orbiting backup of the internet... i mean why else do you think Google is backing up all the data they can?
Should have never been an issue.
If someone is harassing you on a social networking site, set your page to private, and don't "friend" them. There now all you kids don't have to be all emo and kills yourselves.
To me this is just a step in making space accessible to the masses. As time goes on the price will drop. As technology improves they'll be able to do better things. I imagine they are fully aware that most people that would like to go have no way of affording the current price tag. As such to make more money and to sustain the business they will strive to make it more affordable.
I really think that business will be the ones to pioneer space, NASA and the other gov run space agencies made some awesome progress for a while but haven't made any huge progress in years. (though i think the rover is pretty cool)
If they were talking about a second smaller touchscreen monitor I could see this being popular, especially if its highly customizable with what different areas of the screen are set to do. have it on a slight angle about where i usually have my mouse. I could see that being something to replace a mouse. Using my main monitor as an input device... not so much. Not a big fan of holding my arm in front of me and I am a fan of my monitor being in front of me so laying it down not an option.
Depending on what the system controls, under our current administration they could shout Terrorist at him. When that label is applied a lot of the rules go out the window and they could pretty much "persuade" him to give up the real passwords real quick, and then mysteriously we'll never hear from him again.
So if FF is for hardcore gamers, then why was it when FF VII was originally released it had commercials on MTV (which still played some music at the time) and was a entry game into the genre for not only all the jocks but also a good number of girls.. who up until that point vehemently denied playing video games at all (unlike today).
FF is gateway drug...
I prefer the trackball.
I will agree multitouch is a nice feature for mobile devices, no argument there, but I still think Microsoft has missed the point. Stable, non bloated, etc etc, and multitouch is hardly a necessity for most business, it requires new hardware and not all companies have the budget for that. In truth I do not have anything against multitouch, I would just rather they focus on what is important and then add their gimmicks and niceties.
why would they add multi touch? Does windows need this feature? My main gripe with Vista is that it is not a good platform for business. I was really hoping Windows 7 would be more of a corporate OS, but with them showcasing all these superficial eye candy features I am inclined to think that we will see something more akin to Vista on roids.

A cosmically irradiated Spider with space tools; if comic books and sci-fi have taught us anything we should all start panicking about ..... now

That is because Windows 7 is Vista. Looks like large scale Mojave experiment. (puts on tinfoil hat)

Yin Xintian also stated "We are but a developing 3rd world country how could we possibly conduct an anti-monopoly investigation?"
Never read any of the Conan books, or comics have you? Naked flesh is a central theme in the heavy metal fantasy style of the game.

all it needs are nice friendly letters on the back that say "Don't panic"
