Often HR is looking out for employes, while other management may have other goals.
No, the purpose of the HR department is to minimize the chances of the company being sued. Any benefit to the employees is mostly a side effect of that primary goal.
Perhaps you should learn exactly what 72dpi, 150dpi and 300dpi actually mean when you refer to a digital image?
(hint: in the context you've given, they mean exactly nothing. digital photos have a pixel dimension - it's not until they're printed (or prepared for printing) that dpi means anything, and only then when a target size is specified).
> Why does email make it to my mailbox when it DOESN'T have my name in it in the first place?? Maybe if we fix that, we'll cut down on most of the spam.
The email does have your name on it. What you're probably refering to is email that has your address in the ENVELOPE header and not the MESSAGE header.
Before you say this is a bad idea... it's required if concepts such as "Bcc" are to function.
3. Timex watches come with an obsured battery warranty.. 5 years I think.. I end up loosing the watch long before the battery dies. (I've never replaced a battery in any of my digital watches).
What's that? An obscured warranty? Or an absurd one? I agree... 5 years is an absurdly SHORT time for a device that should be built to last for your lifetime.
There's nothing concerning about digital images in the courtroom.
Ask the photographer, under oath, "is this representative of what you saw?".
If it was, he says so.
It's really the same as with any other evidence that can be tampered with. If someone testifies under oath that it is what it is then there's no difference between a digital image and any (many?) other types of evidence.
I'm looking at godaddy's registrar offerings with great interest as one of the features they offer (and which I've not seen elsewhere) is domain synchronization.
Move your domains over, hit the button, and they all now expire on the same day. One post-it note on the fridge, one payment.
(I said "looking at", not "using" since naturally I'm reserved about leaping into something just because the marketing looks good.... a trial registration with a single throwaway domain seems to be working out well, though)
Personally, I think anybody working with images who actually needs more than what the Gimp provides either has bad photographic technique or a bad workflow. If anything, the Gimp actually still is overkill for day-to-day imaging work.
I have three words for you... accurate colour management.
(Personally, I think you should start working with images yourself before passing comment on my technique or workflow.)
I'm still quite happily using my 1992 vintage TUsh (v1.74). It has macros, triggers, highlighting... everything else just confuses me. As I recall, the last update that happened to my copy was to change the signal handler for linux (seems it resets the SIGINT after each use and if it's not reinstated you can only use a Ctrl-C keybinding once since the next one bombs out of the client).
Never trust what they say. Citizenship has no bearing on the possession (or use) of a US-centric mobile telephone.

If it hits Rock.
... in 2029 you gotta always go "paper". "scissors" are right out ...
What if it hits paper? That'd win for us, right?
EVERYONE
Look at the suphp (http://www.suphp.org/) module. It solves your problem.
I sustain 5 million hits per day on an Apache2+PHP server that (for me) indicates it's a "do-able" platform to run with.

There's nothing worse than missing the last couple of minutes of a show. ... and nothing better than blissfully missing the entire thing.
(Note: free registration may be required to view the article).
... I'll just read it from the google cache.
No need
I played at IYT for some time before getting tired of it. All I played was chess, and there's (imho) a couple of better alternatives for that.
Now, I use redhotpawn.com - nicer board, nicer interface, better forums, and GAME RATINGS.
google search bar == fancy bookmark
what's not lean about that?
My legal name is David, but having read the suggestions here I think that I, too, will start using "Timothy" on all official documents.

Next, they're going to license opinions.
I'm doomed! Doomed, I tell you! DOOMED!
thief4.com is registered, but .... wait for it .... thief5.com is still up for grabs.

I knew there was a reason I never installed a sound card in this machine.
Now, I know what it was.
I once spent a month tracking how much time I was spending at /.

This guy doesn't have ANYTHING to worry about

FWIW I have a server feeding over 1 million hits per day with Apache 2.0 and PHP.
... (knock on wood)
No stability problems here, yet
I'm wondering whether they're going to come out with a 34mm

You mean like the 35/2.0 (released October 1990) or the 35/1.4L (released December 1998)??
