Personally, I've judged a game's "fun factor" as how frustrated I get with a game. I play games to escape from the normal every day frustration of work. The last thing I want to do when I'm supposed to be having fun is getting more frustrated or have to study some manual to figure out how to do something.
I pass on high learning curve games, but don't play FPS games(I'm susceptible to FPS-induced vertigo). I just want to dive in and escape for an hour or so.
Been playing a lot of old games on MAME lately like Asteroids and, my personal favorite, Bubble Bobble. Been playing Bejeweled, Bookworm, and an old Apple II RPG called Wizard's Crown.
I've stopped by the local arcade and see the kids play the fighting games and I wonder how they manage to keep track of things. Things just seem like a blur to me. The technology of the 3D fighting games fascinates me on a professional level, but not as a player.
Dustin Hoffman? He wasn't even in the movie. It was Harold Ramis. The PKE meter were not glasses either. Ray Stantz, Dan Aykroyd, did wear a pair of goggles that looked like a NVG.
You may not be aware, but it's easy to use Apple screens with a PC - and many people do because there is limited choice when it comes to large wide-screen aspect ratios.
It wasn't a Cinema Display.
The person with the apple screen may also not be a programmer. Content creation can be done on almost any platform.
I'm quite well aware of that. By "written" I meant writing the script as that is what Joseph does. I didn't mean "written" as in programmed, though I can see the line of your confusion.
Anybody else notice the irony of seeing the Microsoft coffee cup sitting next to Joseph Staten's Apple display and Harmon Kardon SoundSticks (2:06 into the movie)?
Written on a Mac, released on XBox, way delayed for release on the Mac.
And on Junkyard Wars they did it in 10 hours as opposed to a week.
And with junk (well, duh!) and fewer people instead a pile of cash and lot of freebies. Yeah, they supposedly cut back the freebie to just one item, but I still have to wonder if that's really true.
If add your cell phone number to the Do Not Call list, the telemarketers aren't supposed to call you anyways.
I added my cell phone number in even though no telemarketer has ever called my cell phone number. I figured it was only a matter of time before they started to, so I might as well add it in.
The MODIS Gallery, especially the 10/23 compared to 10/28 really does put things into perspective. It's amazing how big of an impact the fires have caused.
I wasn't intending it to be a troll or a flame. I'm a little confused over why that was labeled a flame.
I was trying to point out that while Macs can get Word/Excel/PowerPoint-based viruses, there really aren't that many being produced anymore. If you look at Symantec's Latest Virus Threats list (W32.Marque@mm is the newest listed), there's only two that uses Word/Excel/PowerPoint as it's carrier: W97M.Rochitz.C and W97M.Tabi.Trojan. W97M.Rochitz.C doesn't do anything but spread. W97M.Tabi.Trojan downloads an EXE file which won't work on a Mac.
I had forgotten about the OS 9 Office package. I switched to OS X and haven't looked back.
MS Office viruses are becoming few and far between. The virus de jour is Outlook-based viruses (or worms exploiting the latest Windows flaw) and Outlook doesn't exist on the Mac. (I've heard Entourage, the MS Mac mail client is quite nice, but haven't used it myself). Even if you do get a MS Office virus, they're often tied to some Windows feature that just doesn't work on a make like deleting C:\Windows.
1. NASA sucks! They spend billions for nothing. 2. ISS sucks! It's just a space hotel for the Russians. 3. The Shuttle sucks! Rockets are are cheaper. My PC has more computing power. 4. Armadillo all the way 'cuz Carmack is cool and he's OSS! 5. Rutan will kick everybody's butt. 6. The Chinese and Indians are going to rule space!
Wal-Mart has already started to alter the content of CDs. There was a recent BusinessWeek feature on Wal-Mart about the power it has over the economy. See the Cultural Gatekeeper section. Music companies already provide sanitized versions of CDs with the explicit lyrics removed. Some magazines are not carried or have to be sleeved. Manufacturers of other things have had to make changes just for Wal-Mart.
Okay, I looked again. I take it you mean the bright star on the left on the dust lane just a little past where the disk color turns from white to brown. Then two more to the left a little high and a little low. Well, they're there in the HST images, too.
They're not there in the HST "screen" image, but the size is a lot smaller than the ESO image so that's expected.
In the small HST "print" image, which is closer to the size of the ESO image, they are visible, but fainter.
If you switch to the large HST "print" image, they are clearly visible.
Okay, I compared them and they look the same to me. I don't see any large differences like missing stars. At least not obvious ones. You do realize that those two photos were taken with two different telescopes, right?
I suspect most of the interest in XBOX hacking is to try to screw over Microsoft.
In the long run, it isn't going to do anything major to Microsoft. If somebody manages to get some unsigned Linux executable running on the XBOX, mainstream commercial developers aren't going to flock to Linux on XBOX. Microsoft would put too much pressure on those developers.
Not to mention, Microsoft can wipe the playing field clean with an XBOX 2 and ditch compatibility with the original XBOX. Then you have to start the whole process over again.

The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter launching in 2005, arriving in 2006 will have a higher resolution camera called HiRISE. 1-2 meters/pixel.

The Science article has an image of the EPD images.
If I had mod points, it will go to the parent. Some people will be offended by it because it bruises their ego, but it's the hard truth.
So they have a license to launch something they haven't built or even finished designing? I think my money is still on Burt Rutan.

I don't see any expiry date. Where did you get that information?

Well, there is a GM fish being sold called Night Pearl. See here, or here, or here.

Just a quick look results in these two:

I'm pretty sure that iTMS is hooked into Akamai. Dunno what Akamai uses, but probably not XServes.
Have you looked into CDBaby for electronic distribution?
