I'm no a music industry expert, but I'm guessing concert payouts are probably different for classical and rock bands. I don't remember the last time I saw a T shirt advertising the London Symphony Orchestra, so they probably have to make most/all their money from CD's instead of merchandise and huge concerts.
I doubt Apple will port and sell OSX to Intel anytime soon. Apple gets most of its money through hardware sales, not OS sales. If people could run OSX on Intel/AMD machines with no problems, why would they buy a Mac?
Since the site's/.ed (The Slashdot Effect, the original DoS), and Google doesn't cache pictures, does anyone have any pictures of this thing? I doubt it, since it seemed to be slashdotted seconds after it was posted, but maybe someone got through...
on an old iMac, yes. Newer iMacs have a simple door on the bottom.
If you think installing RAM in an old iMac is hard, try replacing the hard drive. Its even worse
Would the Microdrive be any slower than the normal hard drive? And would there be any problems booting from the PCMCIA slot?
If there's no problems and its fast enough, I'd think that'd be a great idea. Now if only I could afford it...
Why not just say "Windows 2000 required"? If you have Win2k running on your computer, you probably more than meet those requirements. Leave it to Microsloth to make an internet connection that needs 300MB of disk space.
On a side note, does anyone think those reqs might be to help sales of Win2k or WinME? I'm sure there'll be some people who will upgrade just to use this.
I think carrying around an external keyboard AND a laptop computer is bit cumbersome, to say the least. Laptops are supposed to have everything integrated into them so you don't absolutely need an external device, like a keyboard or mouse. If you're going to have lots of stuff plugged into them, get a desktop.
We aren't luddites that complain whenever someone comes up with a new idea. We are Slashdotters who complain whenever someone comes up with a bad idea. There are few here who are so closed-minded to think that anything new sucks.
if sometimes the fastest routes are through the US, how would removing the fastest routes speed up the net? True, there'd be a lot less packets on the net, but those that would be left would probably be taking longer, slower routes too. Example: Playing on a Canadian server from Brazil. Would you get better ping times if the game packets went straight through the US or from Brazil, to Africa, to Europe, to Canada?
Yes, it was designed to kill humans (a very bad goal, obviously), but that doesn't mean it can't be used to benefit humans instead. And if the technology is used to benefit humans, for instance, building a supersonic submarine for transoceanic travel (as an alternative to planes), wouldn't you be worried about it accidentally killing sea life?
BTW, the dolphin post was just a joke. It was meant to be laughed at, not criticized.
the weight might bend or damage the frame of the car. I'm no car expert, but I don't think that would be a good thing. There's a weight limit for a reason... wish they'd say the reason.
Now we just need another species to go to war with... In the absence of evil giant mutant bugs, I propose attacking Microsoft. They're the next best thing.

Or just imagine one...
I think you're right. Looks like iMac CD-ROM doors on the rackmounted cases. Would also explain the lack of SCSI and gigabit ethernet options.

steal the wireless phone market from Linux
I didn't know linux had been ported to phones. I didn't know Wince had been, either. Unless I and many other people are blind, it said it runs EPOC
Am I the only one who's getting a bit tired of the confused-voters joke? It was funny the first few times, but its been done too many times IMHO.
You forgot JonKatz.
It's difficult to mirror what you can't access in the first place.
"very little training"? How little? I'd think it would take a lot of time to memorize what movements type what.
The title of the PDF: The Keybowl: An Ergonomically Designed Document Processing Device.
It's an ergo keyboard ("dome-board," maybe). What's wrong with calling it that?

Shouldn't the 12 Angry Men screenshot have been in grayscale? It was a black and white movie...

I didn't know Athlons came in laptops.
If you want a PIII, go get one and stop whining. Not everyone needs a superfast PIII laptop, or can afford one.

For once they didn't add any extra features. Only what you need for Windows.
All that fur can't be good for overclocking...
