Apple is the Mercedes Benz or BMW of the computer industry. They deliver the best-designed products with "why didn't I think of that?!" features that eventually become commonplace on the Fords and Chevrolets of the computer industry.
How many computer makers let you into the case without turning screws?....
Apparently Apple disagreed with jcoleman (139158) regarding "easily openable case == design feature"
See, given that our genetic similarity so many known animals is at least 95%, would 99% of the dna really be enough to recreate the animal? It appears as though small differences (1% of a very large number of genes is a large number of genes) are sufficient to make a new species, or, most likely, a non-functioning animal.
erm...
1. the linux PAE kernel supports up to 64GB of ram... and is 32 bit
2. 64bit cpus support up to a theoretical 16 billion gigabytes of ram, though right now most only implement around 48 bits for page addressing, which is still 65 TB of ram (I think, too lazy to grab a calculator). In other words, your 64bit cpu supports hundreds of gigs of ram, it's your motherboard that's a sissy.
Q: Overall, what percentage of NVIDIA's customers do you believe use Linux?
I don't know many concrete percentages. Highend workstation visualization is roughly half Linux, and Digital Content Creation (DCC) is largely Linux. NVIDIA Linux graphics powers a respectable portion of the 3D workstations. Our CUDA user base also has a large Linux contingent.
However, the number of Linux driver downloads
from nvidia.com is only 0.5% the number of nvidia.com Windows driver downloads. Of course, many Linux users get our driver through distro packages and other means that wouldn't be measured in that download figure.
Measuring the size of the NVIDIA Linux user base has always been a challenge for us.
Error one: 0.1% of 1.5 trillion is 1.5 billion
Error two: Just because you produced 0.1% more crop doesn't mean you sold the extra food at the same price as all the other food. Increase in production != Increase in demand.

I can't believe that didn't click right away, my mind just went along with "Oh, they were probably talking about how self-indulgent, self-centered, and irrelevant to real life fashion was".
So maybe a better way of putting it is "not yet as slow"
5400 RPM HDD
On the other hand, you edit video on a laptop.
Um... you know the iPhone web browser still has unpatched exploits that were demonstrated during the last Pwn2Own contest, right?
Wait, your post must be sarcastic, because people on the internet are never so blatantly wrong.
Yes, whereas your grammar and diction are eloquent demonstrations of your maturity.

Or, "openable case == design feature"

In all fairness, his remaining 6 points are fairly valid and some are responsible for Apple's success in the market today.
Cool, thanks for sharing your insight (also: article reading talent).

Would love to be proved wrong.
Operating Systems like Linux discriminate against women because of a built in difficulty compared with Windows and Apple's OS X.
So, you're saying we shouldn't discriminate against women, but calling them stupid is okay?
just realized: 1 TB = 1024 GB. so, 64TB of ram for 48 bits of addressing.

I paid them money?

Italics mine.

Yet another example of how basic command line tools (in this case, sed + bc) can improve your daily life.

So? I read it, but couldn't remember what it was called, and appreciate the link. To me, GP would have been appropriately modded "informative".
People aren't afraid of change, people are lazy. People often perceive change as disruptive to their laziness.
Yeah, but it seems that with not much (in terms of functionality) to check over, you could make damn sure you could use what was there.
eBay paid $2.6 Billion for a dinky little 8MB program, and don't even bother to make sure they got everything?
Wow.
Because humans always assume that the way things are is the best way for them to be.
(is that "random" enough for you :-)
Yes, actually. The merits of the grandparent are supported by the examples of the parent.

And for the record, assertions != argument.
Do you perchance belong to the cult of WOOSH!!! ?
10 billion over forty years... I'm pretty sure the gov't loses that in accounting errors every year, so no big deal.

Congratulations, you didn't.
