Does geekly transcendence not imply the rise above caring about childish remarks and misspelled words ?
go on , flayme , we don't care:p (get it get it... misspelled... flay me ? no ? )
duh:-(
i totally agree, getting some kind of 'working factory' in orbit is imo more important than going back to walk on the moon, if we get the station/factory in orbit and assemble ships there it should make things a lot easier, not to say cheaper (once it's all up and running ofcourse)..
yes well, whatever you use, it's not dangerous as long as you do not ABuse it... as usual it comes down to common sense... i'm sure it will evolve in another thousand years... meanwhile... i'l be sleeping;)
yes, that is possible, why would it not be possible ? i've seen it happen... even if i do no smoke that shyte anymore i'm quite a vet on the subject, trust me, it IS possible
deny the right to copyright to anyone who calls themselves 'artist' ? After all, the artist needs to create, and wants to be remembered, while the merchant just wants to make a buck. As i see it, most commercial music isnt even worth the bandwith it would cost to download... i'm a firm believer in the try-before-you-buy ethos like , i guess, most people here, no ?
we are just waiting for you people to reach a level of intellectual integrity that so far only seems to be achieved on internet message boards... a few more million years of evolution should get it right if you do not accidentaly blow yourself up cos the man at the button had a really fucked up day...
yes, you humans ARE funny;-)
if you do not renounce these devilish physics i shall have you burned at the stake !!
still... we do have aeroplanes by now if i'm not mistaken...? no ?
yes, protect the children from violent pixels... and even more from violent polygons... make such a fuzz about it that they HAVE to realize that whatever happens in games is more dangerous than the gunshop on the corner... all too true, i must really agree... really...
Do things like the old power cartridge for the commodore 64 still exist ? I remember watching all those demo's with their funky interrupt calls who were like able to use more than one colour at once in the outer border of the screen... the plasmascreens (omg!!!) and much more... i wanted to know HOW they did that, an the power cartridge, with its ability to freeze the computer at the exact moment where it put something on the screen was like the best tool i ever had, it got me onto assembler cos basic was (and in fact still is) way too slow to get anything useful done (and isnt all that good in helping you understand how the machine itself works, which is, imo , basic to decent coding)...
no ?
i must have been 10 or 11 at the time so if i can do it... i'm sure anyone can:=)
so... it's supposed to be a free market... that doesnt mean that the best product is always allowed to survive... in general i'm afraid we'll have to put up with the general stupidity of general human kind..
Equality is a great thing. But the quest for equal numbers of woman and men in anyhthing really saddens me . Is it not obvious that we need the best people of anything in everything, wether they are man or woman does not matter to me, and should not matter to anyone who has his or her eyes... well... open...:-)
I thought the question was : "what upcoming tech will shake the world in its foundations?" and not, what will make the world better for third world countries... cos to that i can say only this : - > schools, knowledge, fight against superstition, religious fanaticism AND.... (yes, very harsh).... birth control....
i have spoken... now you can hate me:p
just stating the obvious i suppose when i say that we can at least all agree (those of us who have at least two brain cells) that it is imperative that church and state should be separated and even though it is an undeniable fact that there are great mysteries in the universe which are still beyond our comprehension. But the old grey hippie in the sky who designed the world... that's just a bit too far-fetched imo... or actually maybe not far enough... religion is outdated and obsolete, it's only use is to appease the insecure and the ignorant (bold statement, yes) and we will not see great progress or the next step in evolution until we leave that childish foolishness behind... look to the stars people, and see STARS !!! never forget that MAN created god to be it's spitting image:p
You of all people should be the best judge when it comes to kwowing what your kids are ready to read. I personally finished lord of the rings before the age of ten, and i'm still alive and only a little crazy so far . If i were to hint i'd say try giving the the Belgariad by David Eddings . imo that's right up there with lord of the rings . I didnt like Asimov either as a kid... and to be honest, i still don't like it. David Eddings or maybe Julian May the manycoloured land, altho that series is a bit more complicated... Also Stephen Donaldson i liked a lot, but those are also a little more complicated than the Belgariad... the classics like heinlein, zelazny and maybe vance are ok too, if they can... you know... 'dig it':p
Ursula Le Guin maybe, and if you're like all-american-moral-majority-type-of-parent you might wanna wait giving them Tanith Lee books... (they got titties , like age of conan) *winks*
i agree, Orwell was right ... well, only about 100 years wrong maybe. .. .
If a company threatens you upfront , you look for an alternative, right ? (unless you live in belgium ofcourse ...)
Yes, apparently the moon 'belongs' to a group of people? Who are they? I'd like to meet them ????

with what? i heard somewhere the best way was to attach rockets and push them in a different orbit ? no?

yes , proper punctuation is ofcourse more important than the message as we all know, go fix yourself
yes, that is possible, why would it not be possible ? i've seen it happen ... even if i do no smoke that shyte anymore i'm quite a vet on the subject, trust me, it IS possible
yes ofcourse, how to roll a joint in assembler ? ROL ROR NOP NOP LOL ? (yes, i know LOL is not ... don't stake me for that)
Which was first? The patent or the lawsuit ? ...
geeks unite, divided we >>/dev/null

So, which ISP do you choose if you live in a country that has only TWO, who happen to choose to share the monopoly ?

So you would downgrade the hardware in order to keep up with the software ??? interesting ....

totally and undeniably allrighty then ... we don't need something new, we just need MORE of the same old stuff ... all hail von neumann !
