I used to work for DishNetwork, and you wouldn't believe how many time people who "never order PPV" run into problems when they have a houseguest or a teenage son.
There are sometimes 9 PPV movies sitting on the smartcard that were ordered last year, but since the telephone line isn't connected, they were never reported. Once someone tries to order one more, the receiver notifies them that they need to connect a telephone line. They do so temporarily and BAM 9 PPVs download to DishNetwork's servers and the bill is suddenly $80 more than they expected.
I personally know that they don't use the telephone capability to collect any personal information from people. They use the telephone connection for PPV and for programming changes. Some receiver models have software that allows you to upgrade your package with a few presses of a button, but they have to be able to dial in.
As someone who no longer watches TV, and only grudgingly pays for a cable modem, it'll take a lot of convincing that I should spend any of my money to increase the GIGO throughput to my house.
Then this obviously isn't for you. But there are far more people out here to are willing to pay for TV programming and getting outrageous broadband speeds are more than worth a little extra expense.
No, a hostile takeover is the process of buying up enough shares so that the group attempting the takeover starts to own enough of the company to make the current board meaningless.
Thank you Captain Obvious.
Seriously though, the process involved with a hostile takeover means that the new owners can do pretty much whatever they want without the previous board of directors having a thing to say about it.
So back to my original question, how can Disney's board turn down Comcast's hostile takeover bid?
My name (Joel) means "The Lord is God". is Jo- related to Jehovah, then?
I'm glad you brought that up. Let me preface my following comments like this...I believe 100% in freedom of religion, so please don't let history and my opinion dissuade you from believing something that you find to be true...
The origin of the word "Jehova" and the subsequent extablishment of the so called "Jehova's Witnesses" is very comedic to me.
In Hebrew, vowels are not written so their name for God was "YHWH", it was spoken as Yahweh. When German religious scholars were translating from Hebrew into German they wrote out the entire name. But they used the rules for pronounciation that was native to their language. Yahweh became Jehova because the letters y-a-w-e-h (in english) are pronounced like j-e-h-o-v-a (in german), so those people who call God Jevova or call themselves Jehova's witnesses are mispronouncind the name of their God and their religion.

Oh, and unless your vest is one of the newest military models, a standard FMJ round from a M-16 or AK-47 will go through it. The AK-47 will actually go through both panels - and the wearer - and still have the velocity left to kill someone standing behind you.
The vests are rated. Level IIA and IIIA are the ones you're most likely to encounter, those will stop 9mm,.38 Special, and the IIIA will stop.357 Magnum. If you can find a level IV vest, that will stop 5.56mm Nato and 7.62x39mm.

Don't give me that shit. There is a world of difference between being black, or a woman and in being a homosexual. When a black person walks in the door for an interview, it's plainly obvious that he is black. Same thing for a woman. If you're a homosexual, people only know that about you when you let them.

Kevlar vests are designed to fail. That's why there are multiple layers of Kevlar. Each layer slows the bullet as it fails. The plan is that before the bullet penetrates your flesh, it gives all of its energy to making the Kevlar fail.
I have a Kevlar vest and I stabbed the rear panel with a survival knife. No penetration at all, but I have read of police who were shot with broadhead hunting arrows and the vests were only useful to them as big band-aids.
You're Kevlar gloves aren't uncuttable, they just don't cust as easily as your skin, hopefully you'll get your hand out of the way before the Kevlar in the glove fails.
The "el" ending means "god" (essentially), so it's not surprising that these names end up sounding slightly Jewish.
In Hebrew "el" as a suffix could mean "God" or "Of God", for example if we were to look at the names of angels Michael means "who is as God", Gabriel translates to "God is my strength" or possibly "my strength is God", Israel means "Striver with God", Usiel means "Strength of God", Raziel means "the secret of God".
At one time Christians were so fond of tacking on el to the end of a word to create an angel that in 745 the church forbade the faithful to call on any angel other than Raphael, Gabriel and Michael. (the three mentioned by name in their canonical teachings)

Your conduct outside of the workplace can reflect upon your employer. Sure it may have been a tech job, but what if one of the company's flagship products is a finance package for churches? If their business would be directly harmed by it becoming general knowledge that their "Church Finance" software package was developed by homosexual coders, they have a legitimate reason to ask.
They asked him where he is from. As soon as he told them he is from the ME, their next question was "So learning to fly planes?" There were 2 other interviewers in the room, and all they were doing was laughing.
My 10 year HS reunion was in October, one of the women in our class is married to an Egyptian man, some stupid bitch thought it would be funny to ask her if he was a terrorist. It wasn't funny there, it would be even less so on a job interview.
As far as being bullied into working unpaid hours, don't. It's that simple. You don't want to work for a company that bullies it's employees. The employment market is bad, but not bad enough to stay in a situation like that.
I got fired once because as the boss said "You get here when we open, and you leave when we close." They wanted someone to "give more" than the 45 hours per week that I was putting in.
My favorite part of this story is what comes next...They fired me because I wasn't putting in more free hours, but they guy that they kept ended up laying the bone to the Boss's wife. When the divorce got ugly and they had financial problems, the other guy bought the business out of bankruptcy. So the guy who fired me lost his business and his wife to the guy that he choose to keep instead of me.
Most states now are right-to-work states, which means that they can fire you for no reason, and you can quit for no reason, and nobody can do anything about it.
You just described "At-will employment". "Right to work" means that you can get a job at (for example) a factory and not join the labor union.
I bought Battlecruiser Millennium, at the time there was no multiplay option available. There was a "multiplayer" option at the main menu, and the reviews of the game that I read online stated that Derek Smart had promised a free multiplay patch when it was available.
I put the game on the shelf for a while and when I started to look into it I saw that you had to buy "Battlecruiser Millennium Gold" to get multiplayer.
At that point I pretty much gave up on it and put the game away. I wish you luck with your class action suit.
If you are going to use nuclear, solar, or geothermal energy sources, you might as well produce hydrogen more directly via electrolysis. Much cleaner and more direct than separating hydrogen from fossil fuels or ethanol. However the real issues involve the energy density, convenience, and safety of the delivery mechanism to the consumer.
Let's not forget about all of the Sulfuric Acid that we'd have to get rid of if we used electrolysis to get hydrogen from water.
Ethanol takes energy to make. Lots of energy, possibly more than it contains. That energy comes from fossil fuels.
Today that may be the case. It may not always be that way. I think that if we used more nuclear power, ethanol would make even more sense.
I am not opposed to "alternate energy" sources. I think that ethanol, wind, geothermal, fusion, and solar power should all be researched. We have to use what works for now, and that is fossil fuels, but we won't have fossil fuels forever. We need to look towards the future. We need to be prepared to use other sources of energy.
Even if we didn't use ethanol as a primary fuel source, it can have other benefits. Mixing ethanol with gasoline reduces emissions.
I suspect that a big reason is that no one ever developed a headset with a high enough resolution/field of view/refresh rate to truly approximate "reality".
I don't think that LCDs exist yet that can. VR was an idea that was ahead of its time. We couldn't produce affordable hardware that could push enough pixels, and we didn't have small displays with a high enough resolution.
We have the pixels available now, thanks to 3DFX, NVIDIA and ATI, but we're still a few years away on those displays.
