Perhaps the US could do more to help promote peace. Perhaps the Palestinians could do more to stop killing children and civilians in restaurants and buses. There's lots of blame to go around. But now we've found a new person to blame: YOU, for not getting your fucking facts straight before you mouth of.

You are 100% correct, no one is blameless in the middle east conflict. Israel refuses to take part in good faith negotiations, the Palestinians refuse to deal with the violent extremists in their midst, and the US obviously favors one side over the other.

Arafat and Sharon have killed innocent civillians and that makes it harder for the other side to take them seriously. Until all sides admit that they have done wrong, and negotiate in good faith, the cycle of violence will continue.

Fair question. I'll explain, I was an early adopter of the PII, I had an FX chipset MB. I couldn't go beyong a PII 350 and I had no AGP slot. I had to get a new MB to upgrade. The P3 was not available at the time, and the price of the K62/MB combo was right.

TCO. That's what the REAL bottom line is.

In a business, you'd be right. That is not the case with schools.

The Macs will cost less because of the lower IT staffing requirements.

Schools don't really have the luxury of being able to float bonds like businesses (or even municipalities), It is far more feasible for a school to budget more money for an IT staff each year than it is to get more money up front.

Unfortunately, that's the same reason many school IT administrators will go with Windows. Less staff = a smaller fiefdom for the managers.

It's far more complicated than that. Colleges tend to have Windows-centric programs, so when the IT managers enter the workforce, they are more experienced with Windows. Also, Windows runs more of the programs that the users they support will want. IT managers also favor windows for a reason that is not as true anymore, parts availability. Though it's not like it used to be, the time was that you couldn't get parts as readily for Macs. When the rest of the computing world was using IDE, Apple was still gung ho SCSI. Apple Switched to DIMMS back when the rest of the world was still using 72 pin SIMMs. Old lessons die hard.

Even more to the point, the VAST majority of the firearms used to commit crimes are 6 shot revolvers. They were churned out like hoola hoops for about 60 years and are still plentiful and cheap on the black market. Banning firearms is no more about controlling crime than the DMCA is about stopping malicious copyright infringement.

A hacking tool like a port scanner should be legal as it can have an intended use to check your own network for security holes. However, a trojan horse program is obviously intended for illegal remote access to a computer, and should be illegal.
