Iran could put the uranium bomb in a truck, drive it into Israel and set it off in downtown Tel Aviv. Or perhaps they could drive it into Iraq and detonate it in Baghdad, taking out a large portion of the U.S. Military ground forces in one fell swoop.
However, stupid jackasses passing laws trying to ban violent video games make me want to kill the jackasses passing the laws. Perhaps I can have a ban passed on banning violent video games because that makes people violent.
How do you define "making money"? Could it be considered profitable if I were to trade software. music, or movies with others online? I've profited by gaining something in return but no cash was involved. I'm sure the scammers and con-artists would be able to come up with many others. Is it enough to gain something by offering bandwidth as a fee (a la Bit Torrent)? Bandwidth could certainly become the new currency of illegal distribution of copyrighted material but in your plan there's nothing wrong with this because cold, hard greenbacks weren't used. Just admit that you want shit for free and are pissed and jealous that artists and musicians have the potential to make gobs more money than you then give up the fight and move on.
My biggest problem is that my level 46 paladin had way too many elite and dungeon quests and very few normal quests that I can go out and do on my own. I'd like to see Blizzard dual rank these quests so I can attempt them on my own or with a group if I choose (adjusting the difficult accordingly).
How is this insightful? Are you honestly suggesting that I can commit a crime on my personal property and avoid prosecution because I can claim that any investigation conducted on said property constitutes a violation of my right to not provide witness against myself? This has to be one of the dumbest arguments, and twisted readings of the Constitution, I've read on Slashdot.
...who is sick and tired of all the comparisons to the US? Country the size of a pea and lacking in cultural diversity is better able to spend its resources than the U.S., film at eleven. Seriously, how relevant are these comparisons really?
What's the mystery? Slashdot needs articles like this to stay in business so they can generate ad revenue from frothing-at-the-mouth rabid slashbots. If Slashdot could figure out a way to monitor Bill Gates bowel movement habits and patterns you'd see articles every day day about each one.
Ever heard of reaction time jackass? The faster you are traveling the shorter amount of time you have to react to changing conditions. Unless you've discovered a way to ignore the laws of physics reaction time, decreased when you increase speed, is a contributing factor in accidents. Reaction time is a fact. Nowhere did I suggest we decrease speed limits, I merely pointed out that both his examples did not preclude speed as a contributing factor and in fact speed was often a contributing factor in those types of accidents due to decreased reaction time.
"Losing control of the vehicle and hiting something solid or rolling over cause the fatalities."
Neither of these precludes speed as a contributing factor. In fact, even driving 10-15mph over the speed limit greatly decreases control one has over their vehicle.
"Fuck the media companies that want to ruin our intellectual property system"
What about the cheap fucking bastards who want to illegally distribute anything they want? Do you honeestly think they are blameless in this? You have two extremes fighting each other and both are saying fuck the guys in the middle.
I'm agnostic and I think the idea of Intelligent Design has some merit. The problem is the right-wing conservative nut jobs are using it as a ploy to sneak creationism into science and the left wing jackasses are ignoring the concept simply because of its religious implications and because the right wing likes the idea. This country is never going to work if these two polar opposites are allowed to control the arguments and thus the direction of the country. It's time for the moderate majority to rise up and end this menace before it's too late.
I was talking to a co-worker at lunch about the XBOX 360 that I recently purchases and she was telling me how her parents (in their mind-40's) played a lot of Halo and Halo 2 on the original XBOX. In fact, the XBOX was theirs, not the kids. She said she would come home from school and her mom would be playing Halo. Now, I realize that (and I'm paraphrasing a sig I recently read) the plural of anecdote is not data but clearly demonstrates that the original XBOX had the potential to be mom friendly.
THE RIAA DOES NOT HAVE A MONOPOLY ON FUCKING MUSIC JACKASS!!!!! I really hate reading this crap. If you want to make music and sell it on your own then go right ahead. What you cannot do is express ideas in the same or derivative manner as others but other than that they sky's the limit. If you are personally not creative enough to write express yourself through music or art that's your problem. Intellectual property laws protect the expression of an idea, not the idea itself - nothing more, nothing less. The RIAA has done nothing to change this by seeking to litigate those who willfully infringe upon their copyright through illegal distribution (file sharing is illegal distribution, period - it is not some contemporary form of sharing like you did in kindergarten).
Apple went to great lengths to accuse Microsoft of copying OSX. Details of Leopard are released and it appears that quite a few of the new features in OSX.5 are "copies" of features that are already in Windows in one way, shape, or form. When Microsoft is accused of copying Apple and Windows users argue that the implementation of the idea is vastly different, slashbots shout the guy down. The shoe is on the other foot now. I like the implementation of Time Machine but let's not say it's anything new. Time based back-up software has been a part of Windows since XP and it's been improved (vastly) for Vista. Core Animation is something Microsoft has been also doing with Avalon and the integration of DirectX into the presentation layer of the OS, though the groundwork for this actually started with Windows 2000 and GDI+. While Vista is not yet out, Apple has certainly been well aware of Microsoft's efforts towards this goal and Core Animation smacks of a me too feature. Apple did it with 10.3 too when they implemented fast user switching. Windows XP had the feature long before. The point being that if Apple is going to accuse Microsoft of copying, they had better not be doing it themselves.
You're only looking at the military aspect of the "War on Terror". When plots like this are foiled, clearly money is well spent. When plots like the one which killed hundreds on the tube in London are successful, it's plain to see why money is needed. Calling it a "war" was one of the worst things the governments could have done because people automatically associate war with soldiers. Unless you've been under a rock for the past 20-30 years, then you would know that terrorists have no qualms about targeting civilian. In fact, they seem to prefer this method of attack because it causes the greatest amount of damage, physically as well as economically and politically, with the least amount of opposing threat. Whether you like it or not, whether you agree with the current administration of not, whether you agree with the terrorists plight and politics or not, you are most certainly a part of this "war".
"no sane intelligence agency would wait until the terrorists are about to board the planes."
They would if they plan on getting convictions but you don't know they were arrested when they were just about to board the planes. All the reports I've read so far suggest they were arrested in their homes. Unless their homes are right on the runway, I don't see how you jump to the conclusion of "about to board the plane".
How ironic though. Isn't your post simply fear mongering with the goal of turning people against the government? Let's throw out a hypothetical conspiracy theory pulled straight from my ass and toss in my own armchair analysis of the events to make myself sound relevant.
That's supposed to be its function but Josh Wolf appears to be above the law and is not allowing the Grand Jury to do its job, claiming that he has a first amendment right to withhold evidence of a crime being committed.
Using contemporary measures to argue past events is stupid to begin with. Understanding historical events requires one to think using the terms and conditions of the era in which the event occurred. When you use contemporary terms and conditions to define an historical event then you misinterpret the event and misconstrue the motivations and actions of those involved.
"And what if the tape is only an excuse for a fishing expedition on the part of the police / prosecution and has no evidence of your supposed crime but instead is used as a launching point to intimidate others?"
Then we need independent review panels established to determine issues such as these. If the cops claim there is evidence of a crime being committed on this tape than a mediator should be able to determine whether or not such evidence exists. if it does then the tape should be handed over as it's no longer a first amendment issue. If it does not then the state doesn't get their fishing expedition and Josh gets to keep the identities of fellow activists anonymous. Leaving the issue up to Josh to determine whether or not a crime has been captured or not is like letting the fox guard the henhouse. He is clearly a biased interest in this case and his credibility should be nil given this status.
"ccording to Josh there is no evidence of crime on the tape."
I'll believe that when an independent third party has viewed the tape and made that judgement. What else would you expect Josh Wolf to say, "You got me coppahs, but I won't rat out da gang."? Of course he's going to deny there is evidence of a crime on the tape, especially since he wants to frame this argument as a First Amendment case so he'll get broader support from organizations like the EFF and ACLU as well as fellow bloggers.
Umm, they tossed some to the harbor. perhaps a guard of sailor aboard the ship was killed, I don't know, but they didn't blow the ship up with all crew lost.

In a real democracy the civil rights movement would not have happened and blacks woudl still be working on the plantations.
...it that teens are idiots. Film at eleven.
"What happened to the good 'ol days when the people were more scared of the public than the government was?"
They went the way of the dodo when the psychoanalysts took over society. Next question.
