Sleeper accounts don't get mod points, you have to have posted recently and have good karma, or at least that has been my experience. (I always get mod points within a week if a post more then five of so posts and one of them gets up moded, but if I haven't posted for ages I will not get mod points until I post.)

I disagree, /.'s system works quite well in that posting, having people reply to your posts and getting up modded/having good karma increase your chance of getting mod points.
Nb. From my experience I have to have posted recently to get mod points and usually I get them just after I get an up mod. I go through long periods of not posting on /. and I never get mod points if I haven't posted in the past week.

Also how would karma work if you didn't have down mods?

Although the path of appeal from the High Court to the Privy Council had been effectively blocked, the High Court could not block appeals from State supreme courts directly to the Privy Council. Nor did the Constitution limit, or provide for legislation to limit, such appeals. The expense of any appeal to the Privy Council in London had been a deterrent: in any year, there had never been more than a handful. Nonetheless, by the 1980s the possibility of appeal from a State supreme court was seen as outdated.

Constitution s 74 has not been amended, and the Constitution cannot be amended by legislation.[4] Nonetheless, s 11 of the Australia Act goes as far as legislatively possible, to make s 74 a dead letter.

I read that section as saying that whilst it is not normal to do so, the state supreme courts have the power to send appeals to the privy council and have not ruled it out.

Actually whilst the High Court has declared it is not bound by decisions of the Privy Council, State Supreme Courts can in some cases appeal to the privy council.

The protests are about corruption and the fact that the rich can buy politicians for their mutual gain and to the cost of everyone else.
More simply put they are protesting the fact that they feel the current system is not democratic in that there voices are not being heard.

The fact that they have iPhones and laptops dose not neutralise this, in fact it is almost completely irrelevant. They are not protesting "Teh evil corporations" they are protesting the failure of our so called democratic system.

You should watch the news more, you might find your views corrected or is it only bad when it isn't done by a massive military force breaching international law?

Yeah in Roman times, most people except that if you have left somewhere with no plans for returning even for a decade you no longer have a claim, never mind several hundred years. Israel exists as compensation for the treatment of the Jews in WW2 and to stop a holocaust occurring again.

Actually to US is required by federal law (which can/should be changed) to not support any UN groups that allow Palestine (specifically) to be a member. If the US wanted to play fair and respect human rights they could repeal that law. Furthermore laws that effect a countries diplomatic policy are considered part of its diplomatic policy.
Saying "sorry we have a law against that" is not a valid reason by itself for doing what the US is doing.
