    I am not saying they don't deserve to be here. I am saying that the huge influx of illegal immigrants taking away american jobs is causing problems. In the 1800's we needed immigrants because our population was small. What makes you think I'm white, anyhow???

    It IS 100% Posix compliant. It is not considered a UNIX because you have to pay to use the UNIX Moniker. WIndows 2000 says it's POSIX compliant. I've looked, but the ONLY thing I see is that it has time stamps on files.......someone correct me if I'm wrong. BEOS was POSIX compliant, but Win2k????

    At one company I was at, they had about 50 IBM zseries boxes...we had a system planar problem. We had a guy there in about 45 minutes at 11 PM. One machine didn't have a contract (it expired) and the company didnt want to pay for it..so we called up IBM and they response was, "someone will be there some time in June!"

    I agree with you partially. Everyone knows Oracle uses Suns. How come "industry leaders" still use NT machines for Oracle if Oracle themselves don't use NT??

    OK...I'll agree with you there. You made a valid point.
    Instead, you can infiltrate the work place and replace American citizens with non-citizens. It's more subtle.

    So, the US went thru LEGAL means against the British Government to gain independance, right? We did not approve of the regime under which we were living, so we replaced the existing gov't with a new one. And the founding fathers made absolutely sure that the same thing can occur. First Amendment: Freedom of Speech. Second Amendment :right to bear arms (to protect the govt from doing the same thing as the British did in the 1700's)

    PS. I DO hope that modern day UK citizens don't become offended by these statements. I think you're a bunch of swell guys.:) You have less crime than WE do!)

    Kind of like America in the early 1700's. Actively speaking against Britain. Speaking against overthrowing the English Government. We went to WAR for those beliefs.

    Why not? Back then, the Catholic church WAS the government! Keep everything in Latin so only the elite can understand. (in 1500, the avg person did NOT speak Latin.) By him nailing the 99 theses on the Vatican door was probably tha ballsiest thing anyone could ever have done. Hence the name Protestant Revolution.

    The articles never say which websites he defaced. WHat if he defaced taliban.com? Would he NOT be in this mess? If he defaced myprettykitty.com, would he be in the same boat? Only ONE article mentioned he had an anti corporate/globalist site. The articles were very vague, and I do not feel I am at liberty to judge him yet as there is not enough information in which to do so.

    I use 2.4.17 for everything. I just tried compiling the kernel tonight....went perfectly fine until I did make modules. I havent had time to figure out why it had all those "can't parse" erros.

    by no means is my programming skill good enough, however, I believe if Linus never touches a line of code again, he is a pretty good project manager. However, I haven't read the kernel list in quite a while. Am I wrong? Is he really a bad proj. man.?

    I BELIEVE putty can forward ports to itself like the standard ssh client can...I havent had to use putty in ages, so I might be wrong

    Listen..You have assumed too much. I was NOT saying that they can install all the toys they want. NESSUS doesnt count as a tool unless you're a Sr IT worker (networking, UNIX, etc).

    wait....you stick with windows because you dont like the people who use Linux?? That makes no sense. I use Linux because it's more secure, easier to do the stuff that I want to do, and it's not controlled by the Fuehrer.

    I have seen many people say what they MUST use at work. Call me elitist, but I won't work at a place that tells what tools i MUST use. And yes, I have turned down jobs that have told ME, a professional, what tools THEY think I must use. If I have tools that make me more productive, and I can't use them, I refuse to work for them. No, they don't have to cater to my demands, neither do I have to cater to theirs. I am the IT director of a major global company. I don't CARE what my staff uses. If they can get the job done, that's what matters. I dont care if they use a commodore 64. I hired them for their expertise. Who am I to tell them they have to use the tools "I" choose? Having been in this industry for 18 years, I have noticed corporations becoming worse amd worse, and micro-management has once again reared it's ugly head. Oh well.

    I have no problem with this. If MS can do it (although I hate it), he can do it. He has plenty of users on his mailing list. He doesnt need naysayers

    I agree with the original poster. I HATED DOS and everything it stood for. While me and my friends had AMigas with 16,000 colors and a full gui in 1988 the rest of the world sold out to MSDOS!!!! Why?? I STILL have no clue.

    Hey! I played Leisure Suit Larry on my Atari 800XL!
    That was one of the 5 computers I had at the time. (Commie 64, 128D, Atari 800XL, TRS-80, Amiga 3000).
    The Atari tried to play catchup w/ the Commie, but they were too little, too late.
