Quite good, perhaps, but for less money you can certainly get better performance out of Intel. As much as I have loved AMD for the last decade, Intel is completely eating their lunch at the moment and Phenom and Barcelona are not going to save them. We can only hope that in the next couple of years, they have something in the pipeline that rescues them and their less than 15% market share, before someone gobbles them up. It is the responsibility of the message sender to ensure that the intended audience can receive the message. It's not a fringe that is disregarding him, it's unfortunately only the fringe that listen to him.

Indeed. This whole issue makes me think Theo & co. doth protest too much.

That's not to say that I can stomach the other side. Stallman is a fruitcake, the kind of guy that sensible people would be crossing the proverbial street to avoid rather than paling up to. You're sadly right. I think that rms has good points and makes good sense - but honestly, I am appalled by his physical appearance. I know this sounds shallow and crude, but it's no surprise he has trouble selling his message when he presents himself and his message the way he does. Pics here.

Someone told me that one of the *old* powerbooks has a replacable top panel in which there was some sort of official apple solar panel option. I did some googling but couldn't find any evidence of that.
    From the linked page:

Note: This article provides information about a non-Apple product. Apple Computer, Inc. is not responsible for its content and mention of this product should not be interpreted as a recommendation by Apple. Please contact the vendor for additional information. Also, as far as I can tell, the products are no longer available (neither in original form, nor in "updated" forms).

    To summarize: Hubris.

Yese, someone made something similar a decade ago. Are you saying that this Lenovo thinks this is so wildly succesful they'd better get into the market?
Logically speaking, when the 2007 version weighs in at almost 50 kg and does not even completely power the kit, I think it's more to do with the tech being immature rather than being first to market. I can also market completely half-assed stuff, but then my company would also die and leave my domain for the sharks.

I think this is a common experience, because of quality control issues and manufacturing being outsourced to contractors. Here Apple talking about iPods shipping with a Windows Virus on it... straight from Apple's site. Click here . Apparently, a contractor was to blame. Apparently, Apple was to blame. I don't really care about whether or not it's an inhouse or an outsourced screwup, when I purchase Apple gear, they've branded the item as theirs. The only exemption from this is if some computer store that sells the iPods has the added service to update the official firmware before selling the ipods as an added service to the customers, and the computer they then hook the iPod up to infects the iPod.

I had a similar setup to yourself, but i didn't need that second copy of firefox. I assume you mean that you clicked a .torrent link in firefox, and it automatically loaded in uTorrent?

My solution wasn't quite as simple, but I preferred it. Set up uTorrent to automatically load torrent files from whatever directory, then have linux-firefox automatically download all files with .torrent extensions to that directory, and you are all set. uTorrent never pops up in front of firefox on you, either. This also works wonders with Azureus; it also adds another advantage (for some): Just because I download a .torrent-file, I don't necessarily want to load the torrent client this very instant. The above-described solution automagically cues the torrents. Mmmm, automagically.
