But I'd agree: Why should they try to sell a new brand on a very tight market when they already produce all the alternatives? That'd just add to costs. If Apple has an ad campaign that pushes sales, good for Quantas. If IBM suddenly gets a big deal with a major US corp to deliver 10'000 units, good for Quantas. No reason in changing a good deal...
I used to run the RMA department of a medium-sized computer store in Denmark, and for every 200 AMD CPUs we sent back, we sent maybe 3-4 Intels. If only our AMD sales eclipsed the Intel sales by a factor 50, this would be okay...
AFAIK they have better screens with higher definition - therefore a higher fault rate. But I get where you're coming from... I've a laptop where the battery part isn't properly designed, so when on battery slight jolts will cut the power. Haven't sent it in yet... planning to, though.
Did you contact them about the problem? Otherwise it's a moot point that they didn't offer to fix it. They're making the press announcement as it seems to be a widespread problem (which it wasn't with the GBAs)
I have a completely converse experience; I've had the early FFx (or whatever it was called back then) builds blow up on me quite often, but I've had no real trouble since 0.9 - where, on the other hand, my IE just needs a little prodding and it will go up in flames, taking shell-Explorer with it...
I wish I had the kind of cash needed to purchase a nixie clock... they're just way too expensive when I'm a student... And I'm not nearly good enough at welding to try my hand (the tubes are way too expensive to experiment)
A few weeks ago I was at a small concert (~100 in the audience), where someones phone rang in the middle of a really compelling vocal backed only by a single instrument... (the singer's reaction was very good, a single word, "Fy!" (danish for "Shame on you"))
My point is that if you're grown enough to buy a phone, you're grown enough to turn it off. Well, that, or I'm keeping my M58 Danish military boots on everywhere I go.
I'm pretty sure there was a case not too long ago where some teen was convicted for masturbating in a public toilet and was caught on cam, and the judge had said he had no reasonable expectation of privacy at said toilet...
Yeah, instead of having visionary politicians, let's instead vote into office those who simply react to headlines. No need for people who actually spend all their time looking into what can be done to make the world a better place, no we just need the papers to tell us what's wrong, and the right (wing?) politicians to start a fuss about these things.
Please note: The reason I use the right wing as the example here is that where I live (Denmark), the most reactionaries are placed in right-of-(Danish-)center parties. This would, in the US translate to somewhere around the centre.
Divide and conquer....

Try looking at the power consumption and heat production of an AMD chip. Just not worth it.

Dammit, I just spent my last mod point!
Why the fuck didn't I know about about:config?
It was supposed to be the Center for Relative Advancement of Public Policy, not CAPP.

UNICEF are good. I've seen their work.
Hell, I even work for them. Of course I say it rocks.

Yeah, especially in the United States.
Wow, your head is a bustle of ideas that noone else has never had.
No wait, the other type...
Why is it that every Windows XP user thinks the goal of the Linux community is to convince windows user to make the switch?
Try looking at all the other replies to GPs post, and you have your answer right there.
But now that you mention it, it's quite obviously the mistake of someone editing an already finished paragraph...

I thought the big sticks was what made us more civilized than those with only the small twigs (that we've broken)
The moderators might actually remember when it was debunked.

Let's do a story on his nixie tube clocks... Gotta love the tubes...
Now THAT's a law I hope we can ALL support.

I THINK
THERE OUGHT TO BE
A LAW
AGAINST PEOPLE
WHO STAND AROUND
IN WATER!
To conquer the Lameness filter I might's well say that it's from an old Python skit.
Just ban phones altogether.
They just hinder the learning process anyway.

They might be there as a deterrent with regards to theft and violence.
Either that, or they're there to annoy you.
Either way, I win as I've never been to SF...
Remember, some normal phones have lights on them, for incoming call, charging, etc...
The best kind in the 'etc' category are those that have just been put onto the phone so that it's cool.
Yeah, gotta love design implementations without any use.
