Maybe OS X Leopard has its problems, but the New York Times seems to think Apple has designed the ideal techie retail store. ... Seriously, that is a lame run-on. If you can't think of a good one to put in the summary, don't.
Just when I thought the human race had slid about as far down on the absurdity scale as they could, something like this comes along and proves me wrong. This is along the lines as someone claiming IP on breathing. You're quite right; however, I'd like to point out that I have obtained the rights for (among others) the following, for which you now owe royalties; * Sitting * Standing * Walking * Laughing* Blue (except the superintelligent shade of ~) * Water * Free (as in, "Gratis")
Each occurence of above, I've priced at a reasonable 2 cents. Unfortunately, someone from Africa already snatched Running. That'll cost me a pretty penny.
What do you mean, prior art? Iceland has only been inhabited for around 1200 years. Younglings! Greenland has been inhabited for around 4500 years. Now that is prior art.
As someone else mentioned, you can use Google Apps for Your Domain. It's free up to 100 users, all with giant inboxes, POP and IMAP. And private area Google Docs - and Cal, Talk, etc. I use it extensively, as has my last two employers, plus a place I volunteer at. http://google.com/a/ is the place to start. My best piece of advice: copy and paste the MX settings if your transfer. There's almost a system to their URLs to follow and then you make errors. HTH, and Merry Christmas:)
If the component does what it's supposed to, and there is no difference in how it should be applied to server and desktop computers, then there's no reason to go through making a new version.
It's more like a racket - they're suggesting they'll stop making it harder for you if you pay extra. Just like all the software that blasts you with advertisements until you pay them not to. Not really. If I download WinZip for free, it is fair enough that they advertise. Or Slashdot, for that matter, who will remove the commercials if you subscribe. OTOH, if I buy a DVD, why should they give me a technical hurdle that not only makes it harder for me, but also more costly for them, unless I pay extra? What difference does it make to them whether I watch it on my laptop or rip it to my iPod?
I had that a couple of years ago, but a slew of trolls had me shorten the fold. Agh. Might as well, haven't seen that many extra-long trolls lately. Well, save for the shit-eating stories.
Wordpress is notorious for killing servers with heavy loads when there are many incoming connections. You could try making a temporary static page and disable Wordpress for a day or two; then in the comments section make a notice along the lines of "Sorry, due to server issues, commenting has been disabled until 2007-12-06". You could also see if CoralCache can help you out a smidgeon. Check this page for further details.
Also, a piece of advice: don't sink money into an upgrade because you've been on/. frontpage once. If the load continues to be high, then yeah, go for it, but slashdotters have a short attention span. See a tale about slashdottings here
It's an old Onion article rewrite... I'd completely forgotten about it, so it was good to see again...:) Article. He missed a few words, but it was good.
Until facebook changes the site that beacon lives on to a mirror list that the participating company checks periodically. Facebook would never do something as insidious as that. Their updated, improved Beacon 2.0, codenamed "Bacon" will, completely incidentally, have a new URL that changes daily - cos of new features, see? Due to the... complex nature of these features, and, er, to protect user privacy from malicious activity, it won't be trivially facebook.com/bacon/$date, but a pseudo-random alphanumeric URL based on your user name, spending habits, number of sexual partners, and curry; e.g. facebook.com/dfh7usd3kiwiqnhu. Share and enjoy.
Still, if you can't trust the sties that you visit to respect your privacy proactively, then you shouldn't visit them. That means not only Kongregate, but also Facebook. I've just installed Flock for the social networking stuff; that does keep some semblance of privacy, plus it checks all the normal stuff for me (I've turned off all the annoying email fluff, even if it was only alias mail boxes I made for the sites)
Basically, it tells you to go to addons.mozilla.org, find blocksite, install, add "http*://*facebook.com/beacon/* to blocksite, and gold. Should work in AdBlock/ABP too, PeerGuardian, or whatnot.
You might consider it a non sequitur... but then you'd also be wrong. Settle for lame segue?

He just stares at the screen. The internet won't dare not turn up, even if the screen isn't even powered. Or working.
!
How the hell did I miss that trailer? That looked like an awesome game! Why the hell didn't they release it?
With all the rewrites, this is really Duke 7 anyway, with Duke 4-6 just not getting released.
Morelike the re-re-re-imagining of Duke 4...Kinda like the Street Fighter 2 series, only without releases.

SnipURL-link to popup-spamming GNAA page. Send it to your nemesis, but don't open!
Nope

That would make it easier to filter out your comments.
Agh. I hadn't seen that there was an article link right below the 'Read Full Comment Text' link. Previous post redundant... :-S

I started backing up my hard drive to DVDs and decided that for economic reasons, I should skip the porn. And DVDs are cheap.

In the face.
If it is clearly marked by a copyright/GPL notice, I don't see why not.
