If I’m going to be forced to submit to an intrusive search, I want it to appear intrusive... to me, to the people around me, and to the people forced to perform that particular search.

Put another way: would it be OK to have one or two pictures of naked vulvas? If yes, then they're obviously not pornographic; and if they aren't, there's no reason why the other ones should be. One could say that Commons still doesn't NEED 100 pictures of naked vulvas, but that's a different issue entirely.

Having one picture might be educational; a second picture may or may not add educational value not already contained in the first picture. Do the other 99 pictures actually add any more educational value? If they don’t add any more educational value, then yes; they are porn: “images that are of little or no educational value but which appeal solely to prurient interests”.
It also doesn’t show the part where you have to figure out what a Video Store is, what a TV/DVD player is, figure out how to buy, install, plug in, and turn on a TV and DVD player, reliably find the DVD that you’re looking for, conquer the shrink-wrapping and weird locks on the DVD case, find a DVD player that will defeat regional locking and then get it to actually do that - and then find out that what you got had so much DRM and unskippable garbage content that it’s a pain in the ass to actually try to watch it (see my previous post).
All I’m saying is... you make it sound really difficult.

Yup. A slightly nonlinear relation between the actual speed through the water and the rotational speed of the turbine in the generator, and another slightly nonlinear relation between the speed of the turbine and the power it generates.
Probably still relatively close to linear... but almost certainly not quite linear. That’s not to say that the assumption is far off, only that it is an assumption.
I’m assuming they’re talking about the linear “water-speed” of the kite. That makes the most sense to me, at least, after watching the video simulation.

Democrat is syntactically analogous to Republican. He’s a Democrat, he’s a Republican. You wouldn’t call a person a Democratic. Republicans aren’t part of a Republicanist party so why are Democrats part of a Democratic party?
We’re comparing growth in sales. Sales were 641% higher in July of ’09 than they were in July of ’08. Sales were still 5% higher in April of ’10 than they’d been in April of ’09.
If you’d just look at the DOW it’s pretty easy to see why this isn’t really that spectacular. In July of ’08 the market was teetering at the brink of a precipitous fall. In April of ’09 things were just starting to recover.
My point was that this started off as a discussion of speed on desktop machines and Enderandrew came along talking about an Opera proxy. I think he’s a bit confused because that sounds like the mobile version he’s referring to, and we weren’t talking about it.

Opera has a lot going for it in the speed department. But part of that is because you're basically using an Opera proxy. Everything you do on the internet gets routed through them.
