You haven't lived until you've had the Meeting on Meetings. These basically consist of some exec talking for about 40 minutes about the structure of meetings meanwhile not following his own advice. The meeting concludes with an extra hour of a video about meetings.
Oh and the first rule of meetings is to 'Keep it under an hour.'
The Code 'not being accessible' is very realistic. There are many places that have offline networks for coding and separate insecure locations to browse the web. Some even go as far as to not allow you to bring in storage devices or storage media into the secure networked areas.
TI also has some Exteral 'Features' that you may purchase. One is called the CBL 2 Unit that allows you to collect real world data from various probes (Temp, v+, Light) This data is entered into the Calculator so that you may run a variety of stat programs on the set.
I don't see any information on the website about privacy. If one SIPphone can only talk to another SIPphone I wonder why they didn't throw in some type of encryption.
I also have Verizon wireless, I aggree the coverage is great.. i havn't had any trouble (midwest => California)
I have had alot of problems with their customer service. It seams that during sign up if the agent types in your social security number wrong your account gets flagged as possible identity theft which merits a $500+ deposit.
The software industry is composed of more than just word processors and games.
There are bussiness apps, defense apps, simulations, etc. Think of AirForce combat simulators for instance. They keep many people in the "software industry" employed.
So, maybe we're as far as we can get with word processors and games, but so what ? Who wants to work on a word processor forever ?
I graduated this time last year.. and it seams that the graduate state of mind is very similar to what it was last year. No, your not going to have recruiters tracking you down like telemarketers. But, the industry is not dead either.
If you were in it to come out making 80K+ while working a 40 hour week... then you'll probably end up dissapointed. Otherwise, if your a code junkie, you probably won't have much trouble finding a job that you enjoy.
Is your degree worthless?... well thats really up to you.
i get to bling use an instant bling messenger at bling work.
Honestly, I think email is enough of a distraction at work. I can't count the number of times that i've been coding away.. and an email pops up... which gets me out of the groove.
yes.. it may have a 1 item inventory, but it is BEER.
try passwordsafe
http://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/
You can also get copper tape to shield the inside. The best stuff is the copper tape that also has conductive adhesive.
I've never used the stuff on a computer... but I have used it on lots of guitars.
Have you been into the CERIAS labs though ? They have some good equipment.
C

Co-Location Hosting in Canada up 500%.
your computer was just turned on. Would you like to...
A. Porn
B. Slashdot
How would the car know who to fine ? Fining the title owner for every broken law assumes that the title owner is the only person driving the car.
I guess they would just have to eliminate their traffic cops, and hire more people to process traffic fine repeals.
Power to the Slinky.
Nothing is wrong with counting, but a Casino is a business. Any business has the right to deny sales to whomever they choose.
Most Casinos are not starving for customers. So, of coarse they would rather have some sucker sitting at the table.

Make way for the carnivore of VoIP.

How is a philosophy degree going to "set you apart" from other cs grads ?
I hope you plan on keeping the coding up during your extra schooling. Otherwise, you will just be a semester behind in experience too.

The paper / production cost and postage dosn't stop those people who mail me flyers every week.
/. posts to cut down on the trolls.
Why then would a $.01 email tax work ? Even at that cost it would still be the cheapest and most effecient way to advertise.
Maybe we should start taxing
Anyone want to go into business developing elbow pads for the office ?
;p
We could take 1 old wrist pad.. and cut it in to 4-6 new and improved elbow pads

University of Leeds will be asked to hack into software and fix any security bugs they find
Maybe Microsoft is just looking for some free labor. It wouldn't hurt to have 10K+ students looking for and fixing bugs, pro bono.
bras hanging from the ceiling.
