AOL competes with themselves all the time, owning Netscape but using IE as they're browser. Why not the granddaddy of them all doing it too? (though they don't own Linux, we all know redhat does;)
Are there any Open Source advocate groups like this one? Maybe we of Slashdot should start one, to combat groups such as this. We can call it the FIS, Freedom to Slashdot.
I wanted to know where exactly they got their money from.
While I respect their core idea, non-violence, but they're going about it all wrong, its mostly privatly funded, they wont tell you what companies, yet at the same time they preach resolution through being open with one another, hmmmm. Whats happening to the info they get from this? Who are these companies and what are they going to do with this info?
They see themseves as a last line of defense before more drastic action, thats cool, but we've seen these ideas, these programs before.
I don't know what the answer to these problems are, turning people in isn't the answer, helping them is.
*sigh* I don't know about this country anymore. Maybe it's time to find another one, so I can at least die of old age.
What I would like to know is how well do these musicians understand this technology? Do any of them even know how to download an Mp3? What does Puff Daddy know about this? Other than that he's been told by some guy in a suit that he's getting ripped off. If a musician REALLY does need the money from album sales to survive thats one thing, but we all know he's not hurting, I doubt The Black Crows are, and now I see Paul McCartney is on on the anti-mp3 carp, makes me rethink all his, peace, love, dope crap he used to sell in the 60's. Thats a free life Paul, being a slave to money like that.
Ok, to the point, they're rich and just wanting to be richer. You can't stop mp3s, it started undergound, if it gets beaten down enough it will go back to underground, but it will live on, even if it's me and one guy left, and that guy likes John Tesh, and ONLY John Tesh, I'll trade with him to keep it alive.
It's resistence. "You've got to learn to resist, because the profit system follows the path of least resistence and following that path of least resistence is what makes ariver crooked" (Utah Phillips)
Big companies come and go but resistence (mp3s i this case) are forever. Me stop fighting? Fat chance.
A show about those 3 would make an excellent place for a Slashdot.org-TV-breakout.
Everyone ready for "The X-Dot"?
Seriously, Slashdot would fit in nicely with those 3. There is something about them that says "Linux users", that makes me REALLY feel like a geek. They could fit it in on a screen in background at least. Whatever.
Yeagers is a must, I cant live without it, in this age of Sims, Yeager still gets played as much my others, it's what it should be. Anyone for Yeager 2.0 for Linux?!!! Same game but update the graphics, and sound, the flight models, but leave the old ones for the fun that they are.
But yeah, more flight sims before I drop Windows completely, thats the only thing holding me back
I'm also a tech support agent for an ISP, and this is true, the only fix we've found for it is deleting the AOL adapter, which AOL replaces the next time you start the program. evil.
i agree, i have the non-USB Saitek X36 Combo, I forgot about that, I haven't attempted it either. I also have a separte game card, remember those? I dont think you can get them anymore. Has anyone here gotten programmable sticks going?
Its great Linux is getting more and more games, software etc... but what I would like to see is more flight sims. Its the only thing keeping me from dumping Windows altogether European Air War? Falcon4?
I'm as big a Bowie fan as Cmdr. Taco is The Who and my reaction as well as most of my Bowie fan friends (Most of them through the Net, Bowie ain't too big here in Wisconsin, I'm sure he will when he goes Country though) is neutral, so what I can't figure out is, whos he trying to turn on with this?
I'm using Coel at the moment, and find it to be great, EASY to install I might say, took about 10-min, X setup wasn't at all, it did everything, the only thing it lacks are some here and there utilities ("make" comes to mind, grrrrrr)

Will these be available in a format like "AA, AAA" you know the standard battery sizes? I'd like one for my Rio.
