    I doubt that money is DotCom's main objective. He could easily live his dream of being an independent larger-than-life millionaire on the money he made with MU. Why sacrifice all that and become a middle manager at Disney?

    I don't know the boy scout. He might be an opportunist looking for reward. Did the old lady want to cross the street in the first place? In matters of ethics context is everything.

    However, at first glance his actions appear to be mostly beneficial.

    Yes they did a fine job with the phosphors on LED lighting.
    Just checked it again using a DVD for a grating and the spectrum of the LED lighting is continuous (as far as I can tell without building a spectroscope) unlike the spectrum of CFLs which clearly shows discontinuities.

    Don't take my word for it. Bring a DVD to a lighting store and see for yourself.

    IME (my home is almost exclusively lit by LEDs) the spectrum of white LED lighting is continuous. Perhaps a bit more bumpy than incandescent but nothing at all like the line spectrum fluorescents produce..

    The LED itself needs a heatsink as well. Like power transistors and CPUs, power LEDs produce loads of waste heat (less than incandecent or CFL but still a signifcant amount). Also LED life shortens significantly when heated above 50C or thereabouts, so the heatsinks need to be relatively large to dissipate enough heat at a small temperature difference.
