    Mass transit? The quasi-government agency with cameras that record everybody boarding the train/bus?

    Biking isn't much better, with the city putting cameras at every intersection. It's only a matter of time until they ID every face they see in real time.

    I'll never directly pay for an eBook, except through local taxes that go to the library....

    It's best to let all those Fedora and Arch users work out the Wayland kinks on their crashing systems before adopting as a default.

    Microsoft historically does it's OS and Application debugging after releasing a new version, based on feedback from telemetry and user complaints,,,

    He says he'll go up 3/8ths of a mile, that's just under 2,000ft. A commercial airline flight goes higher than that, as well as some cheap high altitude balloons. Of course the point of this isn't to prove anything except that this is a publicity stunt.

    I'm guessing you could use a few Estes Rockets with a webcam and get more height, without the cost, or loss of life...

    There's just no convincing some people. You could send them into space so they could see for themselves and they'd swear up and down you'd really just put them in some kind of sophisticated VR room and faked the entire thing.

    I endorse the idea of putting flat-earthers into rockets. I'm just not in favor of having them return safely.

    How many CEO's and managers are left after AI's can do their job. Think of the cost savings to the shareholders.

    My only other observation is self service checkouts in supermarkets.

      I avoid them like the plague if I have more than 5 ot 6 items, because after that, it's not faster, or more convenient than a cashier. Supermarkets will need to come up with something way better than what they have now, or pay me to do my own checkout.

    But I am kind of waiting for a working Amazon Prime/

    Netflix and Kodi work well with my home NFS server with a ton of transcoded files from old time radio shows, ,movies and tv shows.

    I did add an ethernet/multi-port USB hub and a 2.4 ghz wireless keyboard which made things much, much better...

    OK, the bug is big. Impact is going to be big. But who's gonna be punished by the market? Who can I short? Will users of Cloud services demand their processes to be hosted on exclusive servers not shared with others? Would it raise cloud costs? Would they punish Intel?

    I read an article that said the Intel CEO dumped a bunch of stock last yer, so it's probably too late to short them.

  19. 1%? Whatever metrics they're using are misleading at best. In the "Real World" about 70% of them would be back on the street. Unless they value their employees by the results of their google searches to solve problems.

    More likely 1% of them were making way too much money compared to everyone else, and their employers didn't care about quality.

    I'd be more concerned about medical equipment in the home that depends on constant internet access to keep someone alive or safe losing connectivity.
