Citations? I know the crime rates tend to drop when honest citizens are allowed to carry weapons. I know crime rates tend to rise when the right of honest citizens to defend themselves is impaired.
I DO NOT know that corrupt government officials tend to reduce crime. Put up, or shut up, please.
Such a bitter sounding young man. One might suspect that he was a guest of Joe's tent city. Perhaps he doesn't understand the service Joe did for him. Look, the guy finished his GED, he's literate, and posts on/. ! I would say Joe did him a lot of good!!
Every county needs a sheriff like Maricopa county has. I speak as the parent of a young man who needs Joe in his life. More liberal pussy type sheriffs worry about a criminal's rights, and fail to make an impression on the youngsters lodged in their jail houses. For that reason, those same youngsters are lodged again, and again, and again, until finally, they graduate to the state prison system.
Oh well - the system works fine, if the purpose of the "criminal justice" system is to fill prison cells, and make prosecuting attorney twats look good, with high conviction rates. No need to fix a system that works so well, right?
Please, just admit that this event offends your sensibilities, and that you are unwilling to afford them any privacy. In fact, if you had the opportunity, you would cause troubles for them, simply because your sensibilities don't permit you to recognize their activities as legitimate.
The only advice that I can offer you is, "Don't look, Ethel!"
The added benefit should be, that doctrine is more understandable. Back in my day, I read a LOT of manuals, and completed the correspondence courses associated with many of them. There were times that I questioned my own understanding of the English language! Worse, sometimes the questions in the course were apparently targeted at an earlier revision, because NONE of the multiple choice answers agreed with the current revision!
Given even 10,000 soldiers (or sailors, or airmen) are willing to participate in such a project, the end product HAS to be more intelligible than some manuals that I read. Had there been an internet back in my day, I would certainly have gone online to help correct errors. (I should note that such shoddy manuals were the exception, rather than the rule - most manuals were pretty straight forward, assuming prerequisites have been met.)
that all of that stimulus money goes to local governments, and small companies. (not necessarily "small business" per se, but small companies) The government shouldn't be rewarding monopolies. Let's see real competition for a change.
I hated to see multi-billion dollar banks being bailed out, I hated seeing the big 3 automakers being bailed out - but I will actually LIKE seeing 20 million homes in America finally getting that "last mile" of real broadband. My 256k for $75/month sucks almost as much as 56k did. Latency is just as bad as 56k, and, of course, I seldom actually SEE 256k - generally, it's somewhere between 170 and 230.
Broadband? God, I'd LOVE to be able to watch a Youtube video about a new Linux operating system, and not hear the son yealling "LAG!" at the top of his lungs!
Perhaps we have a communication problem here. From TFA, "And privately, some companies are griping about conditions attached to the money, including a net-neutrality rule " From the summar, "And privately, some companies are griping about conditions attached to the money, including a net-neutrality rule "
It seems pretty clear, from that, as well as a myriad other articles on the intartubez, the monopolies aren't even slightly interested in implementing net neutrality. They want one thing only, and that is as much money as possible for the use of the tubez, on top of extravagant rates attached to the infrastructure underlying the tubez. (cable, telephone, satellite, fiber - you name it, they want us to pay for it a few hundred times over)
There is something wrong with the SYSTEM. One of the biggest problems, of course, is the "war on drugs". There are, literally, millions of non-dangerous people imprisoned each and every year, for violating drug laws. Our rates should be near those of Canada and Australia - we are similar peole, with similar histories, after all, with slavery being the biggest single difference in our histories.
FF 3.5 doesn't take half a minute to start, OR crash for me. Either on Ubuntu, or on Windows. Limiting the number of add-ons helps is most important - if you are asking Firefox to perform eleventy-hundred tasks for you at startup, yes it's going to take awhile to load.
Stripped down, and with the browser tweaked for my purposes, FF3.5 doesn't really seem to be any slower than FF.5 through FF 1.0 was.
If it's crashing all the time for you, maybe you need to reinstall not only FF, but Flash, Java, and any other plugins that you rely on. I just don't think you're being terribly fair to FF - there are a number of forums offering support for FF as well as it's plugins, addons, and what-not.
You work with computers, right? How do I set up my machine to display not "color", per se, but to be more visible for the "color blind". See, I fail all color vision tests - can't see red or green. I don't CARE about the colors so much, as I just want important stuff to be sharp and clear. (Why on earth does everyone use red to color "important shitzls", when red just fades into the backgroud? Use a nice electric blue - make it flash - THAT will get my attention!!)
Alright, maybe I'm just mocking "normal" people. Whatever. But, it's fair to point out that eye candy isn't a priority with everyone.;-)
HA HA! The joke goes both ways!! Newegg and Tiger are happy to be the vendors of No-OS hardware! Maybe you should take a hint? Stock bare metal, stock Linux CD/DVD, and be prepared to inform potential buyers that they shouldn't even ATTEMPT to install Linux on bare metal, unless they have an IQ larger than their shoe size. What? You say that you can't get away with insulting customers like that? Phhht. Dozens of people have achieved fame and fortune by insulting their customers. Google "stand up comic". Alright, so you're not Graucho Marx. Even so, just a little practice on your part should kick in the "reverse psychology" thing that people are hard wired with. The customer should walk out your door, carrying hardware and installation CD, calling over his shoulder, "I'll be back next week, I'll show you, I CAN DO THIS!"
As I say, Newegg and Tiger are laughing all the way to the bank.
I appreciate the FUD. I see that the proper response to FUD these days, is to mod + for "informative". There are sure a lot of fanbois around, huh?
Lest you have missed some rather important facts, the "malware" you allude to was ALPHA software, being tested by ALPHA testers, who VOLUNTEERED to install the software. Citing feedback from those volunteers as evidence of intrusive malware installation is clearly dishonest.
Well - who DOES understand our system? Certainly not the lawyers, or the liberals who like to tamper with the system.
We imprison more people per capita than countries such as the Evil Iranian Empire, or the Evil Communists of China, or a lot of other nations that might surprise you. We may even compete with the DemiGod of North Korea, but statistics on North Korea are hard to get, and harder to substantiate.
Seems obvious to me that NO ONE understands our system. We sure as hell don't rehabilitate very many real criminals. Worse, we have a dozen new laws every year that creates yet another sub-class of the criminal class.
Hey stupid - you can order a car without a stereo. It is much harder to order a computer without an operating system. Personally, I BUILD MY OWN. But, apparently, plugging some components together is just to difficult for some people....
The two faced bastards are telling us, in the western world,
"Think of the children! Government MUST be able to censor your (fill in the blank with P2P, email, browser, ISP, or whatever) We MUST be able to locate terrorists and kiddy porn freaks!"
Out of the other face, we get,
"Think of the oppressed! We HAVE to help the little people break down the firewalls and the censors!"
Why not be honest? "Our evil empire has to beat their evil empire, because that's what evil empires do!"
To better answer your question - online games are "gamed" for in-game currency, which is converted into real life currency, by one means or another. There are companies in poor countries that employ dozens or hundreds of people to farm MMO's for ingame currency, to be sold on the black market to wealthy gamers. It is a lucrative business for them, considering that most come from poor countries, and they can pay people a bowl of rice of two for a day's work in front of the computer.
The same guy might be logged into 4, 6, or more online games, and he has a quota of gold, or whatever, to harvest before his shift is over. He never gets to adventure, or explore - he performs rote actions, with the purpose of increasing his bank.
BTW, have you ever thought what life would be like if you had no asshole? Things would get quite miserable, very quickly. People really should show their gratitude. Have you kissed an asshole today? Well - to be fair, kissing assholes is best done in pairs. Try this command in Linux, my young friend:
Manpage -date
NAME
date - get and print a date SYNOPSIS
date [-s] [-local] [-k] [-blind] option=value... DESCRIPTION
If no arguments are given, a date will be selected at random. Providing an argument will restrict the search pool of dates. Hopefully these arguments will not carry forward into the actual date. Only the superuser can select dates by name.
The -s option registers you in the date database and (if not -local) posts your vitals to alt.personals (and, optionally, alt.sex.wanted).
Using the -k option selects a date, but does not make any further arrangments.
Ranges are specified with parentheses and brackets: (18,25) is 18 to 25 exclusive while [18,25] is 18 to 25 inclusive. An array of selections is given with braces such as "{blonde, brunette, redhead}". Multiple responses are separated with commas, as in "sex=female, yes, please".
-blind To arrange a blind date.
view[=must]
View prospective date's picture. To locate a picture, date searches several picture databases, including FaceSaver (uunet.uu.net) alt.sec.pictures, alt.binaries.pictures.erotica, and several FTP gif archives. You must have access to the Internet for FTP to work.
If view=must is set, and date is unable to find a picture, a request will be automaticly posted to alt.binaries.pictures.d asking for one.
Options to xv(1) may follow "view" or be put in the environment parameter XV.
The following options restrict the search pool to those who have supplied the necessary information.
dim=range,range,range
height=range Synonyms are also supported: midget, twerp, short, beanstalk, giant, basketball-player
sex={male, female}[,{yes, no, maybe}][,opt sex(6) options] If sex=yes and you are registering, your vitals are posted to alt.sex.wanted in addition to alt.personals.
race={white, black, native-american,...} Various slang terms are also supported.
marriage={flirting, noway, maybe, once, twice, several} Seriousness and experience.
name=lastname, firstname Specify name of your date. Perfect for hitting on. Names can only be specified by super-user. FILES
$HOME/.daterc Optional place to store options, for frequent daters.
$HOME/.datehist History of dates, to avoid duplication.
$HOME/.persona Options describing yourself, if you haven't registered in the database. Note that the first time you use date and supply this information, you are registered in the blind-date database.
But - what if the planet weren't intact yet, when the capture was made? Two stars passing close together, one or both capture some of the matter swirling around the other star. It's still hot and gaseous, but orbiting in the opposite direction. Only later does it cool, coalesce, and eventually form a planet. I suppose it's more likely that an older star stole the matter from a young star - if they were both young stars, the captured matter would have been more likely to have met resistance, and eventually been forced into a more conventional orbit.
the planet wasn't spawned by that particular star? Maybe it's a capture. I would imagine that a capture doesn't have to go with the spin, or against the spin - it could orbit from pole to pole.
I sure wish Linux would get off their dead arses and patch this problem. Sure would be nice if they can get it done in less than a month or six, like Windows!! Oh - wait - what? Linus committed a patch correcting this issue on 13th August 2009.
The question is based on assumptions. I've personally pushed an 18-wheeler over 150 mph. I've pushed a bike over 170 mph. In both cases, the limiting factors were all the 4-wheelers. Take the cars off the roads, and let the bikes and the trucks run.
Oh yeah - one more thing. Mandate that cop cars have square wheels. They already have radio, they need a handicap to make things fair.
But, IMHO, Dubya didn't "steal" that election. It was a close race that came down to a few votes in one state. The dems were just sore losers, and accusations of stolen elections are just sour grapes.
The losing party should have put a more credible candidate out there to beat the chimp. (BTW - how DOES it feel to put your support behind a man who CAN be beaten by a chimp? ROFLMAO)
Actually, no one I've ever met used the term "dozens" when the total being discussed was more than a gross. For the sake of argument, let's say that they captured 150 criminals. Yes, that certainly justifies denying benefits to thousands of people. (sarcasm, people, sarcasm)
"I read something along these lines at some point...."
Reading everything you can get your hands on is good.
Believing everything you read is not so good. Errr, bad, actually. No, no, it's really so unspeakably stupid........ Tell, me, do you happen to swing through the trees, eat bananas, and engage in group grooming with your family members?
