  1. Should help schizophrenics... on Voices in Your Head · · Score: 5, Funny
My wife's a psychotherapist - she used to suggest to her schizophrenic clients that they carry a cell phone (or at least know where the nearest payphone was). When they felt they needed to argue with the voices in their heads, she suggested they just pretend they are making a call to help ease the embaressment of the situation.

Now i guess they just need to push the arguments towards, "No, I don't want to buy a fucking Coke" and no-one will suspect a thing...

We've already been conditioned by ESPN with it's sports ticker

Not me - when the Football World Cup was on, I watched the Mexican sports channel specifically because it didn't have that irritating ticker - who cares if the commentary is in Spanish - after all, 90% of it is just calling out the name of the player to identify that small dot on the screen.

Bet that doesn't include the original Channel 4 series and the original TV movie with a much slimier Bryce. As always, US TV took a good idea and sanitised it for the masses.

(showing age). The 15 minute entertainment show - Max + videos (zoolookology anyone?) was much sharper than anything that came later.

A counterpoint, no more to the very 'over-simplified' statements above:

    • Bush thwarting FBI investigation of Bin Laden family could have *contributed* to 9/11- BBC greg palast
    • Terrorism in Iraq definitely should be in the news - BBC - HRW
    • As for the Israeli attacks in the west bank, it's a sad situation, but to say that Israel is dealing with terrorism is like saying the holocaust was Germany's way of dealing with Jews not leaving the country when asked - ie an OTT reaction that flippantly disregards the history of the region - so you're happy invading Iraq over ignoring UN resolutions, but also happy to ignore Israel when they do the same?
    • Ah the Saudi Regime - our favourite dictators! But that's OK, because they let US troops stay there. Dictators are only a problem if they can't be used to US advantage - I forgot. Good dictator, bad dictator.

Life is so much easier when everything is either Black or White, but I prefer a world of many colors - even if it is a bit harder to focus.
