After seeing that athlon catch fire right after the heatsink was removed it made me think before considering AMD. Why is the thermal sensor made to cheaply that it can't quickly detect a rise in temperature? That looks to me like AMD is cutting corners to bring the cost down. The P4 survived and suffered no permanent damage. Now thats proper engineering.

So you have the IE people and OS people in different buildings in different locations, how does that solve anything?

well one of the other issues was un-binhexing the file. I tried with winzip but of course lost the data fork that told macos what to do with it. If they had given me a .sea file it might have been ok.

  21. my experience on Huge security hole in Internet Explorer for MacOS · · Score: 0

Ok so I picked up an old Quadra 610 that was going to get trashed. The hdd was stuck so a few good whacks and it spun up. Macos 7.6.1 started to load up. I thought hey I can run NetBSD on this thing, maybe throw in some more ram (8mb x2).

I had the most difficult time just getting stuffit installed. For you windows users here is the equivelent: You need to open a .zip file and pkunzip only is distributed in .zip. See my point?

Anyhow without this simple utility it was impossible to run any software. After doing some google searches the response seemed to be "find someone with a mac and have them make a disk or get one from a magazine. It has something to do with the filesystem and the data fork blah blah. But damn was my macos experience a shitty one.
