    DeCSS sure does a hell of a job viewing my dvds, I mean that 4 gig file sitting on my drive is great. Had someone written a legal linux player you wouldn't be in this mess now. But god forbid the zealots should pay for anything. I think RMS said it best:

    "The only good thing about the unauthorized copy is that you avoid giving money to the owner. This is good, because the owner does not deserve a reward for making software proprietary."

    SGI isn't giving up Irix. Their roadmap shows continued support for the MIPS R14k and R16k processors. Irix is still better than linux on MIPS cpus. The last I checked linux for MIPS didn't even have an X server. Thats gonna be tough for doing graphics.

    Listen to 128k mp3s with headphones especially when you hear a cymbal playing, it sounds distorted as hell. The minimum would have to be 192k to even be close to FM quality.

    They are disgusted with the current canidates. You have Ozone Al (I invented the internet) Gore who brings you lines such as "I never lived in the 20th century. Then you have George Bush who isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. People see these two and say the hell with voting.

    I have a panasonic 7502B scsi cdr drive working fine in winnt. I installed it and it didn't create a bunch of drive letters. What do you mean by "grab the device some other way"? If you experience stability problems in windows maybe you should get better drivers? Its not the fault of the OS.

    Maybe some people *LIKE* the novell NDS architecture instead of winnt. With this they can modify it for any use they want. Why is win2k more like NDS than the old domain style? I thought all the linux zealots preached freedom of choice (freedom of only their choice).

    DeCSS is NOT a player, all it does is dump a 4 gig file to your hard drive. A far far cry from being a player.

    Hmm lets see, I rent a DVD for $3 and use DeCSS to get the vob file, with 75 gig drives its no big deal. Whats legal about that?

    I don't know about you, but if you know how to properly admin an NT box then blue screens are a non issue. We have NT boxes at work with many months of uptime doing data acquisition. Use good hardare and be careful about drivers, especially printer drivers.

    Look at the amount of trojans and viruses spread by AOLers with something as simple as windows. How many people are going to keep up with bugtraq and install the latest patches? Hey I just thought of something, steal someones aol account and use the linux client. DoS anyone you like.

    VQF is superior in many ways to mp3, even the encoder will let you encode live streams on the fly (with a fast cpu). Sound quality is much better and files are 30% smaller. How many vqf files have you come across?

    If something is on tv or radio is already been paid for by advvertisers and sponsers, etc etc. I don't know what stations you listen to but mine don't play whole cds at a time, only the tracks meant for singles.

    Using your vcr to tape the simpsons is a far cry from stealing a workprint vcd or setting up a camera in a theater. I'm just curious how you can justify downloading a movie thats still in theaters, or mp3s from a cd thats not meant to be released yet. I'm sure you love those people who give away the movie ending before you have seen it.
