Well, it's a good thing that rasterizing is on its way out anyway. Scanlined triangles is not the way to go forward. It is slow at high polycounts. O(N). With high enough polygon counts, raytracing is actually faster, and you can do that on your multicore or Cell SPUs. There is no more need for shader hardware.
I hope a fellow slashdotter can help me out with a similar problem: I would like quad core, but at very low power. Intel has a mobile version of Core2Quad available, that only uses 45W: penryn qc
What motherboard would be compatible with this? I have seen "Socket P" motherboards that are advertised as "Core2Duo compatible", but they do not list this processor specifically. I'm not sure if quad core mobile processor in a desktop case is actually possible, but if it is, I want to try it.
Ok, I understand they can carbondate the shells. However, how did they date the markings? They may be 300 yrs old. Especially considering bushmen were still carving shells recently.
There is absolutely no place for proprietary standards on the web. Both flash and silverlight need to die.
Just imagine what would happen if HTML was proprietary: the web would never have taken off as it has now.
There is a perfectly good alternative for vector graphics on the web: SVG is an open standard. It works very well e.g. on iPhones. At least apple is not polluting the internet with crap as Microsoft and Adobe do with SilverLight and Flash.
Oh wait... I can top that. Pong, on a PS/3 controlled with Wiimote. I did that a long time ago. http://ps3computing.blogspot.com/2007/01/ps3-goes-retro-pong-using-wiimote.html
Good old electric can be expensive as well... if your government is incompetent. The Netherlands spent 4.7 Billion euro on a 100 mile track. That is 9000 euro per foot.
The conversion is *not* correct. The 30 euro (== $35) is the european price. The same cable is $20 in the US. But even the US price is a hundred times the manufactoring cost.
Not a source? Hmmm.... I would call it at least an energy resource. If you have lots of it in stock, you can make effective use of its exotherm reaction with oxygen. When oxidized, a lot of heat is generated.
In your reasoning, gasoline is not an energy source either? So what, all our energy comes from the fusion of the sun's atoms.
The hydrogen of the sun is fused, which gives off radiation which we can then use to split hydrogen molecules on earth into hydrogen and oxygen. We then burn the hydrogen to move our cars. There is nothing wrong with this.
I am not sure that wftech did a good job. The site doesn't work with my plain browser (opera), that I am using without javascript, java, activex, flash, etc.
Shame on you. If you build a site for nasa, at least use international standards.
To the slashdot maintainers: Please rename the subject line of this article! Slashdot is currently acting as a FUD vehicle for Intel. For the time being, this has *nothing* to do with AMD. All this tells us, is that Gateway is unable to fingerpoint problems in their systems. Please stop this, before more damage is done. Slashdot headlines are mirrored everywhere on the net. People will make the wrong assumptions because Gateway cannot diagnose properly. Was the CNET article read properly, before posting? I wonder. Bram Stolk

Interesting, although it sounds like a very imprecise method: equating microscopic erosion to age.

Yes, you can animate SVG.
Pretty much every aspect of the SVG graphic.
Colour, transparency, shape, transform, anything.

Hi,
I have an old PS/3, with linux already installed.
If I upgrade my firmware to 3.0, will I lose my OtherOS feature on my old PS/3?
thx

Isn't that nr 6 in the world?

RMS may be mentioned in the press release,
but he is still going to be upset (and
quite rightly so):
"Linux is well known as an operating system"
Linux is a kernel.
How hard is it to get important pieces of texts
like press releases without blatant errors?

Whoa! That's another quality hack by a Dutchman. First slashdot, now Nasdaq. Holland Hackers vs Site Admins: 2-0 :-)

Hi there,
Personally, I consider the Simpsons the best
TV product to come from the USA, ever.
To have a healthy society, it is important
that a society can make fun of itself.
The Simpsons does just that.
I would really like to have the 1st ten
years of Simpsons on DVD. Are there any plans
to put Simpsons on DVD?
