Just another something to break and require a costly repair.
Years ago, I didn't go for the automatic seat belts which put the shoulder part in place but you still had to manually do the lap part. It had no benefit and was just another thing that could break.
Am I locked out of using my car if I put my wallet in the other rear pants pocket? My exercise pant don't even have read pockets.
Can't say I disagree with you; I don't know anything about java programming. But browsers cache.js,.css, images, etc. The user just needs to bump up the browser cache setting to something like 512MB.
Of course, if Java hadn't had such limited communication with the browser page, the background libraries could be sent once for a site rather than once for a page, then cached locally on the client.
Yup. Google helps us out here. If we're using offsite resources like that, there's a fair likelihood that it's cached in the user's browser even if it's the first time they've visited the site.
And then Google also gets to look at the referrer data.
phpMyAdmin (at least the way I use it) does not have its own passwords. It uses a MySQL user ids and passwords. If you fail at securing MySQL, it's not phpMyAdmin's fault.
If it's running under Apache httpd you can limit access in a lot of ways (i.e. by IP address and/or Apache login) so there is no problem with it running on an internet facing server.
You can be a CLI guru and still use a GUI to get things done.
I have a 30" screen. Try to explain to me why I should follow a tablet paradigm.
Exactly. I have two 24" widescreen monitors. Right now I have 14 windows open that I can see a corner of. With one click I can bring a window to the forefront. I don't have to hunt for a window in the task bar. And BTW, my task bar is on the right which has 44 windows in it.
I'm thinking that the desktop will be dumbed-down to the least common denominator to accommodate smaller devices.
I too have this scrolling pause (wheel mouse) usually with FF using around 1.8 GB of the 8 GB (Windows XP 64-bit). Even as I type there are occasional slight pauses as the characters appear on the screen. I have 19 FF windows open averaging 4 tabs each. I do a lot of Netflix watching (sliverlight) and ESPN football watching (flash).
Do you think they'll ever fix the kerning on the capital T (font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;)? It's been at least three releases.
and their support for the latest standards is quite good.
Now if they could just correctly support the standards that aren't the latest. Webkit's outline extends above the table caption (incorrectly) while the border doesn't. Webkit doesn't handle a div min-width:45% inside a div min-width:90% correctly.
This is where out US patent group, judicial branch, executive branch, I don't know who exactly, needs to step in and say "YOU DID NOT INVENT REMINDING PEOPLE TO DO STUFF!"
It's not gonna happen until we clean out Congress. Our representatives are not representing us.
We need something like term limits for Congress to keep any ONE member from becoming too powerful.
Yeah, but who has the bigger penis?
Ok, someone give this a +1 Funny.
Wikipedia has a page about sunspots. Zow, AGW must be false.
A nice citation for a published paper showing an increase in solar irradiance would be more convincing.
Didn't read it did you? Didn't try searching did you? Just content vomiting what you've heard?
Is it putting out more heat? No.
Still stick with these statements about the sun? We learned otherwise in grade school. It's called science.
I'm out. You get the last word.
Learn how to use a search engine. But you can start here.
Is it putting out more heat?
No.
lol. So you're saying that amount of radiation the sun produces doesn't vary? And that solar activity won't affect the earth?
Slashdot's previous article was titled: "Sun Storms May Affect Radios, Cell Phones Today".
Ya think that shiny thing up there has anything to do with global warming?
SimpleURL has served me well. $12.50 per domain and has good domain management including DNS.

Thanks for the explanation.

Huh? What chew talking 'bout Willis?
... refresh date in the past so that your browser wouldn't cache anything.
Squid can be set up to ignore this and cache anyway. Look at refresh_pattern's operands.
Compression savings is a good reason to run Apache's mod_deflate

Wish I had a mod point.
And what's a cloud, really?
It's where you put your Web 2.0 stuff so that you can leverage your synergistic paradigm.
Thank you for saying this so well.

Can you copy a text based config file from one server to another? That's really handy when standing up a new server.

Apple still has the only OS on smartphones that can be touted as 100% secure, with absolutely zero instances of malware in the wild going on.
Perhaps they should patent this and sue any other phone makers that are malware free.
IE 9 doesn't run on Windows XP. Chrome, Firefox, and Safari do.
than, than, than. Then means afterwards; than is a comparison
every new version has removed useful features or moved them around
and don't forget trim fsck'ing URLs in about:config
+5 Insightful WTF? Who's modding this up?
FF still has memory leaks. I've had it open for one day and it's up to 1.459 GB. And this is the only version of FF to ever crash on my computer!
He, he; waiting for you to ask "what version are you running?"
