    Wrong wrong wrong.

The money he stole should go to his victims, not to his children. Your analogy of not harming one innocent to make reparations to another innocent is completely off base. Depriving his children of stolen wealth is not harming them, its not punishing them, its simply righting a wrong. And those who should get the money are not simply another innocent, the money belongs to them.

In other words its total hogwash, especially when onscreen events clearly contradict it. We have seen Klingon characters from TOS (without ridges) appear later on DS9 and Vger, with ridges!! So much for them being hybrids.

My theory is that the Klingons had an allergic reaction to tribbles, which left them ridgeless and which is why they hated tribbles so. Eventually they wiped out tribbles and their scientists found a way to reverse the effects.

    Character development....3001. Bwaaaahaaaahaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!
the only thing worse than the character development in 3001 was the total lack of plot. I really enjoy Clarke's work for the most part, put character development is not always his strong suit. He is more of a concept guy, and his concepts are usually awesome. His plots are sometimes a little thin as well. Rendevous with Rama, they find a big spacecraft, but nobody's home. Wow. I eagerly picked up 3001 and was completely underwhelmed. There was barely enough plot for a short story, let alone a novel. Poole is found, revived, takes a tour. The end.

This is another question that comes up every time the Amiga is mentioned: "Why are some people so crazy about the Amiga? What is the big deal about Amigas?" I can only imagine that the people asking this have never seen an Amiga in operation/ or were not into computers back in the eighties when the Amiga was so far ahead of any other platform(but still got no respect). Amigas today are in a pitiful state, but back then they were clearly awesome machines. They were the game machine at the time. They had a groovy GUI AND a command prompt. There was tons of free software. And they were cheap- at least the 500 anyway. And Linux was not even a gleam in Linus' eye yet. Whether or not any new Amiga comes anywhere close to being as cool as the originals still remains to be seen, of course. But we can hope.

Why do you care if the company is making money or not? That is their problem, not yours. Do you check every purchase you make to confirm that the manufacturer is actually selling it to you for more than what it cost him to make it? How do you know you are not ripping off some poor company that is too stupid to know what it is doing? There is no ethical/moral problem here. If you buy it in the store and you are not required to sign a service contract, then you can do whatever you want with the product. If the company loses money and ends up going out of business(which I really really doubt will happen in this case), well, thats how the game works. I didn't make the rules.
