It is not a non-sequitur. And it has nothing to do with the ability to prove something with 100% certainty. You cannot develop an experiment or make an observation about something that is unobservable. Saying that something is knowable is an unobservable concept. Look at in another way, saying that the works of Shakespeare were great works of literature is also unobservable. You cannot observe or experiment with Shakespeare's Greatness. Literature is outside the realm of the objectively observable. So is God. The scientific method is not the end-all-be-all of knowledge. And God is not science. (therefore, a BS in Creationism is just BS)
Ok, I am interested now. Can you tell me what experiment was done that demonstrated that there is nothing outside of the observable universe. Because, that is what would have to happen for someone to use the Scientific Method to demonstrate that the scientific method is the only way to know anything.
There are many Christians in the scientific community. That doesn't make Christianity science. Think about it this way. I teach my high school students to form Hypothesis's as "If/Then" sentences. "If [this happens], then [that will happen]." (Sure it's a bit simplistic, but this is high school after all.) You cannot make a God Hypothesis. Think about it. "If I pray fervently, then God will heal my mother." Well not always, as often God says no to prayers. You cannot test Him. The Bible itself says you cannot test Him.
"The Scientific Method is the only way to know anything at all."
"Can you use the Scientific Method to justify that claim?"
"No."
Disappears in a Poof of Logic.
I know you know this, but please believe not all Christians are this dumb. Most christians are honest thoughtful individuals who work hard, volunteer, and contribute positively to society.
And further, when oil peaks and busts, we'll be happy we still have the Churches out there to help care for the sudden and temporary rush of poverty across the nation. That is what the church is for, helping people who are in need. Not Creationism. And most christians would agree with me.
Aw, I see you are not a teacher. Even the best teachers in the world will have some high school kids ignore them. Some high school kids can ignore anything.
I can't believe no one else is talking about this. The iPhone App Store is anti-competitive. You can only sell iPhone Apps through it alone. That's bad for developers and bad for consumers. Apple has already abused it's monopoly position by not allowing certain apps that compete with their offerings.
This is dramatically different than their Music store/ipod model because you can buy music from anywhere so long as it is DRM-Free. This is not the case with the App Store. Buy from Apple or not at all.
The catch phrase these days is "the Cloud". Google Docs is now the new competitor to MS Office. OpenOffice.org is doomed to a 1995-2007 world. The rest of us will move on and up. I am alread 95% Google Docs. I do all my financing, testing, and data collecting from it.
I have been using in almost entirely since I picked up my Teaching Certification with Dallas ISD. I now use it for lesson plans, worksheets, presentations, lectures, and just about everything else. Google Docs leaves MS Office and OOo in the dust when it comes to portability. I do all my work at home, and don't even have to worry about which flash drive it was saved on. I know its safe in the Clouds.
Give me a break. I was a member of a Swing Dance Club at ACU. We had lots of dances on campus. Get over your own bigotry. Not all Christian are tight-wads.
Ok, I am all for privacy, but when you are in public you are not in private. Period. Let me say that again, when you are in public, you are not in private.
Everyone is for privacy until they are the ones who were jumped. Only then do they wish they had the cameras.
You know what this sounds like to me? Yeah that's right, blackmail. I'm surprised no one else has thought about it. Discovery makes a show about how easy it is to break into something, then (surprise) The other co's don't want it air. Then their lawyers make a deal.
I have long wondered what was the first art form developed. I wonder if it was cooking? Trying out different mixtures of herbs with meat to mix flavors and create new dishes. Sounds plausible to me. That would have easily morphed into painting -making new colorful sauces that could be used to paint with- and then music, beating and stirring mixtures in rhythmic patterns.
Then of course farming led to Astronomy, and thus science in general. Wow, I kind like this theory! YEAH FOOD!.
Well we know one place where the Housing bubble hasn't collapsed. The Deed I bought on MartianRealestate.com will finally go up in value. I purchased 3000 acres on the Martian polar regions. Now where to build my lake house...

why did they change their name anyways? SyFy, really?

I would rather have a EMP in my class. I'll tell all the kids to turn off their phones before they walk in, and as soon as the bell rings... ZAP!
