I wonder if you'd say the same crap if your grandchildren died from lack of healthcare, because the money was spent on an unused military machine. Everything is fine and dandy to you, as long as it doesn't affect you or your loved ones, of course.
Whatever the method, the pilots and owners of that plane were stupid enough to let it get shot down.
Seriously, why the scramble to explain it was some sort of fluke? No one cares if it was a fluke or not. What matters is they let themselves get shot down.
Second, I assume that bittorrent downloads are still only as good as their trackers.
Well obviously, yes, that's right. But, bittorrent is inherently better. The P2P networks tried to make a system for rating files, but ultimately failed. Bittorrent is pretty much guaranteed with such a system. Mislabeled or fake torrents are quickly labelled as such and warn potential downloaders of it.
Wow... Sounds like someone jumped on the Kazaa band wagon and didn't notice the car nearby. That's why _real_ knowledgeable people switch to bit torrent or better, they don't stay near the likes of Gnutella and company.
Bit torrent is superior in every way. Once I switched I stopped getting bad downloads almost entirely. Maybe 1 in a hundred, or even fewer than that. I don't lose almost any time over bad downloads. And I most certainly don't lose any money, either. Sounds like you're losing time jumping through credit card payment hoops and still losing money on top of it.
I don't know what rock you've been living under these past few years. But most games these days don't even allow single player without some sort of online activation.
Then you have all of Valve's games. They don't allow you single player without online activation and a full update of the game.
It is a damned shame that they have done this to PC gaming. I can not describe how my blood boils everytime I see a buy used console game or rent used console game section somewhere. Most console games are just as easy to copy these days as are PC games, so I just don't see the logic!!
No it's perfectly directed, thank you. Unlike the guy I replied to, I don't hold it against people if they don't know something. My point was rather than mocking and poking fun at someone for not knowing, it's much better to educate them or correct them.
And honestly, I didn't know this whole thing about the beam. So I'm right there with the guy that got mocked. And you know what? It's not something a normal person would know. Heck, it's not even intuitive, if you think about it. So for someone to imply that I should know it and insult me for calling bullshit on it (because it sounds like bullshit) is pretty darned cocky, in my opinion. I would much rather he explained it or corrected me.
I can't believe your RUDE and INSULTING post got marked +5 insightful. I would much rather the guy a few posts down that reasonably CORRECTED his parent instead of throwing INSULTS at him for NO REASON, got modded +5 insightful instead of your shameful post. Your post is a disgrace. How would you like it if every time you questioned your teacher's reasoning he replied with a witty insult? Bet it would put you in your place, cocky ass. Shame no one did it to you as a child.
But hey, you were rude towards a post modded "troll" anyways, so what does everyone care? +5 insightful for you, good doggy, here's a treat for insulting the troll.
Damn it I so want to mod you insightful. Someone needs to stand up to the illogical bullies of this place. But our numbers are small and thus your post got modded flamebait.
I'm sick of hearing this over-repeated statement on Slashdot. For fucks sake, every single post about research, findings or whatnot, has a moderation-whore like you in it. Say something because you have an opinion and want to express it. Stop repeating someone else's crap.
Wow, now that was a time when American's were educated. You can actually see it by the way they wrote.
Although, it's like this everywhere in the world. People used to speak so eloquently, as if they were writing a book as they spoke. Just, I don't know, the way they used their words, described things. That's one thing I liked about Clinton, he was kind of like that. You could tell he was very smart and educated, despite everything.
Bullshit. Instead of "voting for Republican/Democrat", how about you get off your lazy, fat, McDonald's eating and Starbucks chugging ass and institute a democracy instead of a bi-party republic.
Then you can preach to the rest of the world about "freedom and democracy".
On a side not, you can't have algebra without a numbering system. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Africa never had a numbering system, or an alphabet(excluding the Egyptians, but they form part of the middle east in ancient times). This was until Europeans brought them language, technology and religion.
Wow are you insanely dumb or what...
The radius of the earth at the equator is 6,378.1 km. Wow, you are off by a factor of 1000. Congratulations, buddy.
You would think that someone that knows how to work out the "gravity force [sic]" between two masses would be smart enough to CHECK WIKIPEDIA...At the very least check Wikipedia, for fucks sake.
I'm glad you have shown off your stupidity to the world. Maybe that'll teach you to next time just keep quiet? That way people at least won't know about your intelligence.
That's a slippery slope argument. Sorry, but it doesn't work.
The merit of one conclusion should only be based on its merits alone, not on any conceivable outcome that you think might arise after said conclusion has been accepted.
Of particular note is the fact that you used only half of my example, namely the half that fits your slippery slope criteria.
As for the "fringe" cases. I totally agree with you. Most arguments and reasoning break down when you go to the extremes. But my point was that in the case of a poor and "disadvantaged" neighborhood, the things you think are extreme, may not be so extreme. In this case it's kids buying drugs and/or weapons with their pocket money.
I think your example doesn't explain why worker#1 is unhappy with his employer. He's unhappy because of a double standard.
If there are rules at a company, then they should be obeyed. None of this hoccus pocus nonsense about "it doesn't matter if they break the rules, as long as they get the results".
I'm fine with a person doing things their way. But when they get special treatment for whatever reason, then I have a problem with it. Let me cite a few examples of things that supposedly warrant special treatment.
-Social people. Favors for that employee/student you enjoy talking to, makes you laugh, that kind of crap.
-People that "get the results".
-Taller people. Yes, it's been proven. Same with good looking people.
-Demographic requirements. I've seen this first hand at the university I'm at. They literally allow illiterate students entrance, hoping to teach them English along the way, just to not appear that they are favoring the white minority, that oddly enough is more literate. I feel sorry for the lecturers that have to read their crap.
-Attractive females.
-Witty people.
-"Connected people".
Okay, some of those examples are just people gaming the system, but they're still wrong. They all get preferential treatment over the average person.
As much as I agree with your taste in old games.
That's borderline brainwashing, right there!

Care to post a link? I'd be interested...

You are most certainly correct.
However, I don't see any open source projects that do anything remotely similar to Silverlight, or flash.
As usual, if I am wrong, please correct me with proof. And I will gladly change my opinion.

I didn't say it was a flamebait post or what he said was trollish. Nor did I ever say that he wasn't right.
We can safely attribute this to The Obama Effect.

Great they fixed it... Now I look like an idiot. I'd post a screenshot, but as any self-respecting geek knows, those are very easy to fake.
It's spelled heel, not heal... How much bloody effort does it take to spell and grammar check one single paragraph?!

Oh boy you made me chuckle with that post. I'm not sure if you're trying to be sarcastic with that post or not. Some of those are pretty far fetched.
Post a citation for your funky post when you wake up from lala land, buddy.
No that happened in the middle east.

What about the kids using the money to buy drugs and/or weapons?
I think that would really be the case in some poor, "disadvantaged" neighborhoods in America.
