The only Mono discussion on either kde-devel or kde-core-devel has been by the Mono developers plus some Ximian people, who were there due to the CCs from the Qt Mono announcements.
It "only" means that Venezuela will be uncooperative license-wise, and not share changes they've made to software under the same terms that shared the original software.
No, comments aren't really the major part of slashdot.
Did you read Rob Malda's comments about the subscription system? Most readers of this site never even read comments, let alone make them.

It was nothing special... lots of Windows machines, but over on the right side there were a couple of GNOME setups. Obviously the only reason GNOME was there was to keep their Mono people happy.
It's the part where they demand personal information.
And if you think your personal information isn't of value, ask yourself why the Times wants it. Then go find out how much it costs to buy a mailing list.
That I've seen, the only actual rights that have been suspended have been those of non-citizens, and mostly non-citizens that the government has reason to believe are combatants against the United States.
Yes, USA PATRIOT and the like are really, really bad stuff. But hyperbole only serves to cloud the real dangers here. The government *isn't* just "arbitrary suspending" rights of all Americans.
And what on earth would that even do to deny me a "position to complain" about the ECHR? Are you some kind of Christian zealot, who demands that only Jesus may cast the first stone?
Article 10 is a weak shadow of the US First Amendment. The US version says that the rights "... shall not be infringed." The EU version takes away in the second part what it gives in the first:
"The exercise of these freedoms, since it carries with it duties and responsibilities, may be subject to such formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society, in the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, for the protection of the reputation or the rights of others, for preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence, or for maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary."
So, let's see... the copyright proponents will argue that protecting copyright will:
- prevent crime - protect the rights of others

Try reading it more often. The story picked up pace a *lot* right around the time Fred announced he'd be doing the comic solo.
And in particular, Largo was morphed from a drunk weirdo back into an articulate, interesting character (with a cool thing!) that actually speaks to the other people around.
I look forward to buying lots of Megatokyo in print.
Glad to know some senators cover their ears and ignore anyone whose education isn't up to their personal standards.
Too bad we can't go back and rewrite the Declaration of Independence to say "All men are created equal, as long as they know how to spell," then rewrite the First Amendement to the Constitution to say "The right to free speech shall not be infringed, as long as everything is spelled correctly."
I don't think I'd trust a network protocol that has a web page that isn't even consistently viewable. Writing HTML is a lot simpelr than network programming, after all.
Let them charge subscription fees then! Just imagine - instead of the airwaves being loaded with whatever junk the networks have to air, they'd have to be filled with things people are willing to pay for!
In a free market and society, voids will be filled. Unless the media companies step up and offer what the people actually want, others will continue to provide it. And, it seems clear that people want to avoid advertising, so they'd better look to profit from it, before they lose money because of it.
Dennis Powell is the guy who put up an editorial suggesting that the K in KDE stands for a marching Nazi soldier, and has implied repeatedly on his site and on kde-cafe mailing list that KDE developers are Nazis or Nazi sympathizers.
KDE is free software, so feel free to take it and try to dominate the world with it.
Just don't expect KDE developers to drop everything and try to help you. As the threads point out, KDE developers have their own needs, motivations, and problems.

Question: How are you managing a Kate plugin without kdelibs? I'd be disappointed if Kate doesn't use KParts.
OK, I'll clarify. There's no *KDE* Mono code in CVS.
Hint: Qt is not KDE. Qt is one library KDE uses.
There is no Mono code in KDE cvs.
Repeat: There is no Mono code in KDE cvs.

Nothing to see here. Please disperse.

I consider such games downright unneighborly.

It's up to Russian courts to enforce Russian law. It's up to US Courts to enforce US Law.
It's better this way, really. Would you want Russian courts enforcing the US DMCA against Skylarov?
The only joke here is that so many people somehow trust these publicly held corporations more than they do the average person.

Let's remember that Verisign is the same company that plays dishonest tricks involving

If the technically superior format always loses, then why did ISA beat Microchannel? Why did DVD beat DIVX?
Libertarian?
If you're a libertarian, why do you see the point of someone defending a government-imposed monopoly?

The SEC or the FTC won't go after them; the shareholders themselves can sue.
It's not a trojan on the output binary - it "merely" compromises the user account it is compiled on.
Bad? Yes. It could be worse, though.
Why do you think H1B visas are such a big deal?

Appears that I've now fell victim to that odd occurance of a reply ending up on the wrong story.
