After the game comes out and people start modifying it. How about adding a 'hot grits' item so that all the people who love to talk about it on here can actually go live out their greatest fantasies through this game instead of posting about it.
I hope they'll allow you to build up your midi-clorian levels to invincible proportions the way you can build up your characters in diablo or Final Fantasy type games so you can go around throwing guys by waving your hands.
As a developer, I would rather Netscape die completely than linger in it's current state. If Netscape wants to continue to live, it needs to get up to speed very quickly. Not that IE is a great solution by any means, but currently it's much easier to develop for than Netscape.
A Haiku for Netscape: Die a painful death May IE devour you alive You are a failure
Overclock to the point that you can without buying all the extra stuff. I went from 550 to 650 MHz just by barely increasing the voltage. No extra fans.
I disagree. Everyone has read the success stories and I've even bumped my 550 to 650 with 100% success. It never crashed before and it doesn't crash now and my framerates are just a tad higher. Just enough extra speed to crank it to 1024x768 and still play UT with no delay.
This was over a year ago, when Tom was pro 3Dfx. Maybe even 2 years ago. I just remember when he had a report about sites that were allying with 3Dfx for hardware.
You're right, 3Dfx really did drop the ball but as long as they stay in business the battle isn't over. Just look at AMD, of course, AMD never started on top.
I remember reading a year or so ago on Tomshardware.com about 3dFX doing something similar. I can't remember if it was in exchange for displaying only their logo on the box of a game or maybe a website. Does anyone else remember this?
I've been using the ATI PCI All-in-wonder series card for sometime now. It's not perfect, and I don't think it's supported in Linux but if you're going to use all of it's features it sure is a great card. My version is lacking in the 3d arena. I used to have a Voodoo2 backing it up but the voodoo2 just wasn't quick enough.
I finally replaced it with an AGP GeForce but I'd really like to see if I can get them both working together. Has anyone tried this combo?
Everyone is wondering about the radiation from a device used as frequently as a cell phone.
What about putting a laptop right on top of the family jewells?!
A laptop is certainly using more power than a cell phone (unless it's using transmeta, hehehe) and while it does offer more shielding, it usually sits there for a lot longer I would guess.
Also, I hope they show comparisons to normal 900MHz/2.4GHz phones.
Going a 1/4 mile in a car with an electric motor that powerful would realign all your cells from the magnetic field and you'd have cancer before making it to the burnout box.
Finally! A car from the manufacturer that has been built to prevent people from putting those ridiculous hydraulics on to make it 'bounce'... I mean with some of the battery systems those cars carry, you wouldn't need a gas motor in the Insight.
1. Doesn't an equal amount of R&D go into developing an emulator and making it work on multiple platforms? 2. Couldn't they release their own GamingOS software as open source and make all their money off the games?
My 17 year old brother is addicted to computer games in the worst form. He is about to drop out of high school and attempt to get his GED. Sad but true, the cause is because he can't quit playing games. He stays up until 9am every day playing star craft or diablo or Ultima Online. He started playing games about 7 years ago when I got my first 386DX40. I learned all about that silly PC because I wanted to play games and that dang 640 k of conventional memory had to stay free. Then I got my 486DX4100 and found out about OS2 and gave it a try. It was great. I could do some really awesome things that windows couldn't. I could even do some semi-serious scripting. Then I found out about Linux and realized I could really do some serious scripting. Then I got tired of having to dual boot to play games (before Doom was supported on Linux) and when Win95 came out it was such a world of 'improvement' or so it seemed that I reinstalled it and got rid of linux. All the while I had been learning about scripting, and hardware and memory management and OS management and networking and who knows what else, and he was just playing games. So he got his own computer after I beat the crap out of him time and time again for messing mine up. Now he just plays games and occassionaly he steps outside of pure gaming and makes gaming websites using flash or html. To summarize, he got started too young and had everything handed to him. If you are going to put young kids on computers, they need to be learning and not playing games. Games are a great way to get them interested, but they need to learn how the games work rather than how to look up the cheat codes on the internet.
I've seen a lot of people ask why would anyone want to use an EMU when the original system has perfect compatibility and doesn't cost much more...
Here are my answers: 1. It usually does cost more to buy a console than an emulator. 2. By the time the Emulator is complete usually PC hardware is up to date to play the games better than the original console. 3. Consoles break, PC's do as well, but over time, it's easier to keep the PC alive as when something breaks you can just upgrade it to the latest and greatest. 4. Some emulators are freeware which would theoretically mean that anyone could attempt to program a game. It's tough to do that on a console without the proper software.

Chewbaca would have been a better pick.
People wouldn't even notice the character switch!
Encode your voice message into wave format, and reverse it and then convert it to mp3 and put it on Napster!

If I had mod points, I'd mod you up.
I'm interested if anyone thinks this changes the modern day theory of evolution?
They've been around since Mozilla was a baby. Sending out spam to innocent victims.
If anyone knows how to kill these people, please let me know.
Do you think Metallica would be open to someone setting the equipment up on stage at their next concert?

I'm loaded with midi-clorians!

It might be nice, but it's still rice!
