Did you see that the Judge not only chewed out Robin Gross for saying that he needed to learn a little more about the topic? Even better though, he can't pronounce Linux:)
I really liked his ideas about bringing Linux to a more novice user base. Sometimes Linux can be very hard to jump right into. It would be nice if more people could move into a simpler version of Linux to start and as their knowledge grows they can move to a more robust, technical distribution.
I think that in today's day and age, restricting someone from computers,e-mail and the Internet almost seems like cruel and unusual punishment.
Al Gore (who invented the internet, remember?) is always saying that he wants internet access to EVERYONE. Yet the same government wants to ban a very talented programmer from touching them.
First off, Intel is loosing big money to AMD. I don't care how large a company is, they DO CARE when they're loosing money to competitors.
** I would use whatever is cheapest and works well. I have used 3 computers in my home environment over my computing time and all three were Intel machines** Funny - that's a contradiction. Show me one Intel processor that is being sold for LESS than it's AMD equivalent. You also said that you use what is readily available: Intel is having chip shortages. That is why Gateway and other computor manufacturers are going to AMD. Check out this article for more info.
Hmm, maybe Intel is learning. When AMD came along offering a comperable (if not better) product at cheaper pricing, Intel ignored it and hoped it would go away. -BIG MISTAKE-. Now that VIA is doing the same thing, maybe Intel is figuring out that they should do something. Of course, trying to ban it may not be the best way...
True - but is that any easier than it would be to get fake ID's and pass yourself off as a different voter any other place? It's far from a perfect system, but I think it can easily be as secure as voting in person.
That's not a really big issue, each voter registration number would just have to be cross-referenced with something else, like an individual PIN or Social Security number. This way, you couldn't just randomly pick a nubmer and vote.
I really have to agree with what he's doing. Being in-charge of the Linux trademark has to be a HUGE job. I think a lot of people,/.ers and all, really take advantage of Linux's good name. How many times have you gone to a web page just because the name of it matched something close to what you were looking for only to find it was completely off topic. Linus has the right to keep Linux domains on topic and I, for one, am glad he's doing this.
Cool. I bet that will be a great job. I wish I could move to California and joing up with their company. Wouldn't that be cool to work for Mike Shaver???
I'm glad they're doing this. NVidia makes a really, really good card. I'm glad that they're doing something to get back into a market that 3DFX and Matrox have nearly pushed them out of.
Ok, I've come to the conclusion that the US government has gone completely mad.
90% the lawmakers in Washington don't have a clue what they are talking about here. I mean, really. Most of the politicians I have talked to don't know the difference between the internet and an intranet, FTP or HTTP, Linux or Unix, etc. Al Gore claims he invented the internet. Do we really have to have people like this making laws about this stuff?

Wow, pretty big talk for someone that still thought that no one would ever need more than 640k of RAM.

Oh my God. You mean back then you could be a sex symbol and still be smart?

Cool. I like the idea of smaller, more portable Linux systems. Just think - the idea of a Mobile Linux PDA. Say goodbye to Windows CE :)
kwsNI
Now maybe if that was real secure...

BTW, they have the symbol for Redheads, Inc. It looks like it went bankrupt last November :)

Do the math buddy. He said he'll donate up to $2000. That puts it at $4350.

You should have capitalized the N in Nazis.

Read the press release. They're hiring 75 new people out in California - Silicon Valley.

Don't worry Hemos, I voted for you
