Thank you! It's like no one here even understands basic economics.
Go to any store that sells a large variety of wine and talk to them about how easy it is to restock. Warehouses in Europe don't want to be holding on to stock when the music stops on the economy. Businesses are getting a 2008 feeling and look what happened to gas prices when 2008 happened. Demand drops, speculators re-assess and the price goes down.
Quite simple.
You never know. I had a girlfriend who turned out to be a huge TNG fan. She was a 6 ft. slender African (as in black and from Africa) with a slight sporadic British accent, a BS in computer science and a 'thing' for giving head during TNG.
I was never allowed to reveal to our co-workers that she was a 'nerd'.
So...when I say you never know, your really don't.
First was TNG: Data's Day. Data is like an entry level drug for Star Trek.
For a feature film the newest Star Trek movie works great. It strikes a great balance between entertainment storyline. Again, this is not about scaring someone with your diehard opinions, it's about making someone interested in a new show.
The media is biased against guns and does not report these stories. There are gun magazines that dedicate pages each month to all the crime that has been stopped by citizens having weapons.
More directly, Nazi Germany and the USSR outlawed regular citizens from owning guns. Those countries alone were responsible for tens of millions of deaths on the low end. The US federal government is afraid of their citizens, and they should be.
The moment you need a gun and don't have one will be a perplexing and ironic situation for you. You will likely not be able to let us know how that situation ends.
Home break-ins in the US while the owner or family member is home has the lowest rate in the entire western world. This is because criminals do not like to be killed by a gun owner when they commit crime.
Your point of view is that it is more civilized to just allow the rapes, murders and robberies happen because civilized people do not defend themselves. You exist at the pleasure of criminals, where criminals exist at my pleasure.
How about enforced and targeted regulation. Instead of regulating everything from the central bureaucracy, have targeted federal regulations that protect only true problems between states and other countries.
Let the states regulate within a state and the people in that state can decide the balance between industry and protection.
As far as companies causing problems with people of the environment, that's easy, you make sure they are responsible for it. If a company impacts other peoples property or life they need to be fully compensate. I live in an area where IBM dumped chemicals, there has been debate on 'what to do' about it for decades. It's easy. IBM pays to clean it or pays to lease the effected area for 100 years. Once a company realizes if they break a window, they have to fix it, it doesn't sound as fun anymore.
Have you seen the official OWS demands? The best one is a maximum salary and tax that basically means no one in the US could earn more than $14,000. Literal poverty for all. Now I might not agree with the Tea Party on using big government to push social issues, but a massive reduction of the federal government is the only way to stop a collapse of the US economy. Handing over control to the GOP does nothing, the power and money need to be returned to the people.
So it wasn't the massive spending by the federal government, but the Tea Party demanding spending be cut? So was it the Tea Party at fault in European countries with similar massive overspending when they were downgraded?
Your conclusions are like saying your neighbor is responsible for your house burning down because he called the fire department, but you leaving the stove on had nothing to do with the inferno.
Gingrich came to the right conclusion for the wrong reasons. Wanting votes in FL, a big space program is a great selling point. The moon is the most logical place to colonize next. Being able to run home to mother earth, but also gaining the needed knowledge to exist off earth. Obama's plans are purposefully far into the future, underfunded and probably not obtainable without increased knowledge.
Being a Ron Paul supporter NASA activates my hypocrisy gene, which gives me an awful itchy feeling about the bureaucracy yet a warm fuzzy feeling when I think about people on the moon. I would love to see the space industry under more and more private hands with private money, but like 'international waters' space will have government military presence, like it or not.
Politicians have grand ideas about space, but no one cares what they say because none of it is really true. Obama could care less about space. Bush truly stood behind his ideas, but didn't execute. Once there is a way to recover the cost of leaving the earth, private industry will push us forward and that will be when things will likely get interesting.
Obama and the Democrats controlled the federal government for 2 full years. Do you just leave facts out of your posts or do you omit them from your thought as well? When you say Bush tax cuts you act AGAIN like Obama didn't extend and expand them, which he did. You act like Obama cares cost isn't more than the 'projected' costs you quote, which have proven to be falsified numbers. REAL numbers of costs are only beginning to be realized and that is why Obama care is already broke before it is even fully implemented. Oh, and you forgot the mention that Obama care taxes for 8 years, but only is active for 4 years....which means you can only have half of the promised care at the quoted cost which AGAIN is falsified WHOLLY.
You like Obama at all costs, great, but don't act like Obama is not responsible for his own actions and spending. Own all of it and stop making excuses as to why you and your beloved Obama don't need to be measured by success or failure but rather your intentions. In the real world something works, or it doesn't and no amount of complaining about the injustice of reality can change that.
Saying that Bush signed legislation that was expensive exempts Obama's responsibility for signing the same legislation or extending and expanding Bush policies is silly. You mention the stimulus, which was a 1 trillion dollar failure, but you don't even mention Obama care which is not even fully implemented yet and is already dead broke.
Hate on Bush all you want, but don't act like Obama had no choice but to spend nearly the same amount of money as every single president before him (including Bush).
Somewhere in a classroom with no electricity some kid just scored better than 90% of US students on his/her math test. His/her education costs $2 a month and this kid will likely be your child's doctor when you child go on SS disability for being a fat worthless slob.
But yes, your child will be able to tweet how much the wait in the doctors office 'sux'.
I was interested in this until I heard Voyager. That was such a horrible show the plot was set in the past so they could get it behind them as fast as they could.
Ha. So the postal service has to actually run the USPS like the business it technically and legally is and you blame Bush for them imploding????
The USPS is going out of business because pensions are crazy, pay grades are outrageous and contract rules are pure stupidity (ie pay people $45/hr to sit in a room just in case they are needed).
Blame Bush if you want, but only the government could have a monopoly service to every house in the US and fuck it up.
Too bad solar manufacturing is heavily subsidized by the US government and then the purchase by the consumer is also heavily subsidized by the US government and state governments.
You can't even get a permit let a lone build a nuclear or coal power plant because of EPA regulations and red tape.
It's like watching a race between two people running and one person get's hit by a car every third step they take and acting surprised the other runner is doing so well. It's a rigged race and the desired outcome shouldn't be a huge surprise.
I'm not against solar, in fact I thought if we were going to spend that near trillion in stimulus we could have near afforded to put a solar system on every single family home in the US. Instead we wasted it on nothing... shame.
CBO:
Under the alternative fiscal scenario, by contrast, expiring tax provisions in the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (EGTRRA) and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 (JGTRRA) would be extended, and the AMT would be indexed to inflation. As a result, revenues would grow only slightly faster than the economy, equaling 22 percent of GDP by 2080. Slowly growing revenues combined with sharply rising expenditures would create an explosive fiscal situation. Under the spending and revenue policies incorporated in this scenario, federal debt would surpass 100 percent of GDP in 2023 and exceed 200 percent of GDP by the late 2030s.
This is all a game between companies and the government (state and federal). CA has no money because they are stupid and elect individuals who spend it faster than it can be earned. The idea CA has is to tap revenue from outside the state, which is of course illegal since CA is not our central government.
The federal government is playing the same games since they are out of money (which is funny when you think that they are the ones with a printing press), but that's why you see Obama saying bad things about ATMs and Jets my guess being that ATMs and jets don't pay taxes.
All of this comes down to one thing, spending. Assuming you are not checking your bank account to see if your SS check was direct deposited into your checking account, the US will be at 200% GDP vs debt in our lifetime. That means that if every single American got a second full time job and paid all money from both jobs to the government then we could pay for our spending. As it stand now if we took all the money, 100%, from the top earners in the US FOREVER we still would never pay our debt off at the rate our spending is increasing.
Spending. Spending. Spending. Until we realize spending is the problem, the problems will continue.
Obama is a literal moron. At the same time he wants to use the federal government to push for more engineers he also is blaming automation and machines for why the recession is not getting better. Obama's example was a simple ATM. He noted that if there were not ATMs then tellers would be employed, but a machine does it instead.
Obama is as close as you can get to a hypocritical Luddite. He wants to fund the training of more engineers while demonizing all the machines they create. It's the same with healthcare. Obama says he wants Obamacare to help everyone, but instead it is causing doctors to resin in droves and 30,000 businesses to prepare to drop employer based coverage.
Obama is here to take our money and give it to his friends. Once you come to grips with that you will be better off.
Speculators are now saying the price will drop, so do we blame the speculators on falling gas prices, or do we only blame them when the prices go up?
Thank you! It's like no one here even understands basic economics.

That's because the major European countries were downgraded as well. AA+ is the new AAA.
So it wasn't the massive spending by the federal government, but the Tea Party demanding spending be cut? So was it the Tea Party at fault in European countries with similar massive overspending when they were downgraded?

Think what you want, just don't take money from me to satisfy your hysteria.
Ahh.. Republicans are the problem. Is this your unbiased scientific opinion?
Think what you want, but you can't have my money. As long as we can agree on that, there isn't a problem.
