Must admit, I didnt think there were different types of creationists. If someone believes in Genesis in a metaphorical sense I'd just call them christians. I've always thought of a creationist as being someone who believes that Genesis is quite literally true, and probably believes that Noahs flood is literally true as well. What do you call people who believe that, floodists?

Rock climbing is not a pure muscle power activity. I've seen people climb that way and they get very tired very quick. Its all about technique, balance and keeping a clear mind. Which obviously gives it many similarities to martial arts (which I've also done). On top of that there is lots of very cool gadgetry that goes along with it...all those bits of sculpted aluminium (which makes it similar to cycling).

Youre right, Genesis doesnt say anything about 4 to 5 thousand years, how could it if it was written before that date reference point? Or are you saying that BC they referenced their dates as "3500BC" or "spring, 2343BC"? :-)

I mentioned that time frame as its in the right ball park for when creationists think the universe started.

I'd hope that if we did make contact with a more advanced civilisation they would say something along the lines of "Religion? Oh, do grow up".

It would also highlight the hubris of certain religions. Claiming that a god sent his only son to the human race, but didn't consider an alien race worthy of such attention is just a tad conceited.

Imagine if they had time travel and could go back in time further than say 4500BC, that would make Genesis redundant.

So what exactly did I say that was derogatory or inflammatory as to make my question "trolling"?

I was just making the point that the bible is full of inconsistancies and that it was never meant to be taken as the literal truth. In reply to your points:

    1) If god could "magic" the animals from around the world and into the ark it seems very bizarre that he got a mere human to build the ark in the first place. Why not just create a suitable habitat on say the moon and "magic" them there for a couple of months?

2)They didnt have a habitat afterwards? Why didnt they die? What did the two lions live on upon being released? The 2 gazelles? Oops, there goes the gazelles...

3)No fish...on the assumption that all the water making up the flood was rainwater and therefore fresh then OK, the pirhanas will be fine. Gonna be a bit tough for all the marine (saltwater) creatures though.

4)That sounds like the kind of evasive answer that just fills up the pages of answersingenesis.org.

I didnt ask about the dinosaurs because they weren't around 4300 years ago.

I find it very worrying that people still believe in the literal truth of books like the bible. Sites like answersingenesis.org dont help and only serve to confuse the uneducated and brainwashed about world history. Im sure the authors of such sites dont really believe it either, their explanations are so amazing and demonstratably wrong that it can only be an attempt to keep the "faithful" under control by keeping them ignorant.

Its all very well having that lil DIN sized box in your dashbooard, and having all those features to hand but its absolutly useless cos theres no way to control it. Lets face it, the main reason you want a computer in the car is to play music or as some kind of satnav device. With no display or input devices it cant be used for that, and every car I've owned only had room for one DIN device. So where do you put the control/display devices?

I know they have a link to their little 7 inch monitors in the article, but again, where do you really put that? Cant go on the dash, its too big. Cant go on the front of the dash cos it would covers the air vents and the PC its connected to. And its a bit too easy for thieves to see.

I like that the computer is small and designed for use in a car, but its better off in the glovebox or under the dash, with a connection to a touchscreen flat panel in the DIN slot.
