Why not? The driverless car may well be the answer. I mean, we've already tried the Carless Driver, but those assholes just ignore the fact that their license is suspended, and keep on smashing up other people's stuff.

if you have one you're going to take it places like family functions and vacations so that it will probable be in your hands
You should try going to family functions and on vacation without being tied to an electronic device. It's much more rewarding.

I'm trying to think of what would be a compelling upgrade for me from my iPad 2 and there really isn't much I can think of. Maybe the generation after this one will have a sufficient boost to power, battery life and other features to get me interested, but I dunno.
At some point, they're going to hit the "Good Enough" plateau that has plagued the mainstream PC business. And they'll saturate the market of likely buyers. At that point the market will change into two separate segments:
People who are upgrading simply because the Lithium battery pack is shot. The goal with these people will be to keep them from defecting to Android or Windows.
An entry level market that we haven't seen yet (Kindle Fire territory), consisting of children and people in developing markets.
Thanks! I'd mod informative if I had the points. Just as a baseline, what kind of latency would you expect between computers in a room? I assume at some point the speed and quality of your router, NIC, drivers, etc have to start to matter.
How about a car analogy? All people care about is Horsepower. It's a single number that advertisers can sell. Transmissions, rear ends, torque curves, who cares?
The other thing, is that the factory installed ones are f*cking awesome for parallel parking. Mine displays an overlaid range indicator on the display. Anyone, even a valet not familliar with the car, can back it up to within a couple of inches of a bumper or car behind it. I ordered the option on a whim, but I'll never get another one without it.
Yeah. But obviously, having some stuff running "In the Cloud" is the answer. Crap. It reminds me of 1999 all over again, with the word "Cloud" replacing the word "Internet" in all sort of stupid places:
1999: Five years ago, this would have been totally unworkable. But now we can use The Internet ! 2001: Why the fuck did we think that was gonna work?
2012: Five years ago, this would have been totally unworkable. But now we can use The Cloud ! 2014:...
Don't underestimate the power of stupid plans. There's a reason hotels used to put stickers that said "THIS REMOTE WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR TV AT HOME" on TV remotes, and bolt them to the night stand.
International Standards Organization, specifically, this is ISO9660, the definition of a cd image.
Or, you know, you could just FUCKING GOOGLE IT!
No way. The last time I did that, I almost got fired.
Our SysAdmin: "Yeah, I mounted a MILF last night."
Me:What's a MILF?
Sysadmin: You don't know? It's uh...[pause]...I forget what it stands for, Mobile..Image..Something...Format. Fucking google it. It's an image type, so be sure to use Google Images. Also, we have udev set up so it won't mount automatically. You'll need root access. Google's closest equivalent is turning off safe search. So you'll want to do that too when you go looking. Then just look for "Mounting a MILF".
perhaps the intricacies of the USB connection are beyond your comprehension.
You'd be surprised...
I often have to try two or three times to get a USB connector into my laptop; either it's upside down or I'm pushing it at a bad angle and it just won't go in.
Can somebody please tell me what ISO stands for? Everbody in in this thread keeps saying "I mounted this ISO...I mounted that ISO." I finally found out what you guys mean by "Mounting a MILF", and now you come up with some other mess of letters.
That's not what I heard. I heard that the whole thing was based on an NSA audio interception. Apparently, Kim was getting ready to go on a picnic, and was packing a bunch of beer for the trip.
Kim Jong Un (by telephone): Hey, dad, you got the beer? Don't put it in the old Cooler. It doesn't stay cold. Put it in the new Coleman we imported last week. I asked your butler to fill the bottom with water before he put it into the walk-in freezer yesterday. Is it ready to go?
Kim Jong Il: Yes. Thanks to the help of my friend, we have new cooler frozen.
NSA just heard the last part, and went ape-shit. It's just the way it sounds when he says it.
Palm messed up a lot of things around that time, but backward compatibility wasn't one of them. Forward vision, well, that really took a nosedive after the palm III and V, in my opinion.
Nuclear detonations create telltale signatures on seismometers, which makes it pretty much impossible to perform nuclear tests without being noticed by the international community.
You haven't been keeping up with your N.K. press releases. In 2006 Kim Jong Il personally invented a device which teleports earthquake energy from one place to another.
The massive quake and resulting Tsunami that hit Japan was a result of a of a Nuclear Test, the seismic energy of which in turn was teleported out of North Korea. Jong Il was later quoted as saying "It worked really well. It's just that my aim was off, because I was soooooooo drunk. Otherwise South Korea would have been in some real serious shit."
It doesn't have to be. Palm switched off of the old DragonFire micros to a newer more modern one sometime around 8 years ago. The processing power difference was sufficient that they could run the 68k code in an emulator, and it ran as good or better than on the original platform. That's mostly because 90% of the processing power of most Palm apps was consumed in system library calls, and they recompiled the libraries to take advantage of a lot of native code. I don't see why they couldn't do a CE emulator for older apps.
I predict a world where Microsoft has the best mobile platform but can't break the stranglehold of Apple and Google.
They may not want to break Apple or Google's stranglehold...on the non-corporate user. But RIM is on the ropes, and is thought to be soon for sale. Many IT departments have only grudgingly accepted Apple and Android phones onto their networks. It seems like Nokia / Microsoft / RIM's network and customers might be a formula for success in the corporate world.
Does he not realize that M and AO games are not supposed to be played by children in the first place?
Yeah, I don't see the point. I mean, from my point of view, It's already working. "Hey! You kids go outside! I want to use the Xbox for a while!". That pretty much happens every time I buy a new M or AO video game.

is it still hundreds of dollars?
Yes, but adjusted for inflation, that actually makes it cheaper than its predecessors.

Heck, I can mount an ISO with a double click.

Really? I heard that earlier this year Kim Jong Il's age stopped changing...
