  1. Re:According to Their Terms I Think They Should on Is Google Silently Removing Posts? · · Score: 1

What about when they crawl a web page are they responsible to inform the webmaster then as well. I could understand that if someone requests then they could be told, but your demand is excessive. Google runs a service at their own expense. They are not a part of the government. They are allowed to make choices on how their business conducts itself. If you don't like how they conduct business, well its a capitalist society so deal with a another company. That said I think its a bad move for a company that doesn't "be evil".

You are making a terrible metaphor. Ford does have a monopoly on producing mustangs. That is why people aren't producing mustangs. Trust me if someone reverse engineers and sells a mustang. They will get their asses sued and will lose. What Psystar is arguing and this is specific to Florida is that a contract tying to devices together where tying is only caused by that contract can be considered a Monopoly because you are forcing the consumer to buy a certain product. This is exactly what Apple has been performing and I hope this is an excellent wake up call to them. 3. Point of Awareness on Ruckus Closes Down · · Score: 2, Informative

The Record industry should look at Ruckus and realize that its not free music that people pirate. It is the convenience of pirated music that they want. The Record industry just needs to think and not use DRM.

  4. Redundency on What Spoils a Game For You? · · Score: 1

I don't mind when there is some repetition, but it can be really bad. What really terrible is when you don't feel like you accomplished anything cause you pretty much have to do it all over again for the next level. I usually play till I get bored, but then I don't get the whole story line.

Good luck telling a judge that you THINK someone is infringing on your patent in their basement for their own use and you want in on the action because you're legally entitled.

What are you, an RIAA lawyer?

Actually under patent law you have to demonstrate that a profit was made that you should have been entilted to. Patents are more designed to promote the sharing of ideas by protecting the idea so its owner can cover his expenses for discovering/inventing it.

If a wikipedia article is well done. There will be likes to the articles it cites as sources. This makes wikipedia just as reliable as the rest of the internet as a resource. Maybe even more reliable cause you only see articles other people think are accurate. A keyword search like Google doesn't really do that.

Judges in RIAA cases have been saying this for a long time. The RIAA is acting like a bully and abusing the fact poorly organized law is on their side. Microsoft did it with their antitrust case. These large corporations or associations are just to large to be legally accountable for their actions. The scary part is that they know it.

On top of it all, red light and speed cameras have been known to be wildly inaccurate at times, which is why some teenagers have taken to pranking their enemies by masking their cars with fake license plates and speeding through lights so that they get caught on camera.

I know in Canada a car can't be charged with running a red light. The driver must be charged. How does issuing the tickets work if people can be falsely charged?

  12. A politician needs to consult an engineer on Hackers Clone Passports In Driveby RFID Heist · · Score: 2, Interesting

The sin cards used in cellular phones use an algorithm to confirm identity. The network will transmit a number that is then manipulated to form a new number by the phone. The number is transmitted and compared to what the network was expecting from the individual the phone is claiming to be. If they match then the person is who they say they are. The algorithm is impossible to duplicate without having the sin card and brute forcing to find the algorithm(still next to impossible). The credit card industry is now introducing this because it makes it impossible for someone sniffing the data transferred to use it productively.

Use two way handshake and encrypt everything with AES. Skype already does it with your calls and I love it cause you know no one can tell what you are doing. Unfortunately the RIAA might argue only pirates transfer large chunks of data across the internet so that encrypted piece of evidence is of course illegal music even though they don't know what it is. That seemed to work in their favor when they attacked people in civil court for criminal charges when all they had was an IP address and no indication that their material had been infringed upon. The legislature is in the shitter and no judge knows what to do.
