Never heard of GameStop until I started visiting/. so why should I exactly care as a foreigner? At least iPads and Android-powered tablets are much more widely available.
In fact, why do we really need a gaming tablet when current tablets could surely get some add-ons that allow for better gaming? An external Bluetooth device was mentioned, couldn't this work with existing tablets?
I hope they made the rest of the machine close to the original C64 too: being able to run any old C64 software with ease natively, having special SID-like hardware integrated (possibly available as a MIDI driver in the system itself), offering some really quick to launch and use scripting shell (to mimick how you could just start typing BASIC right when the C64) booted up.
If it's JUST a regular computer in a neat retro shell, then eh. I'd want to see the machine itself geared somewhat towards what the old machine was, too.
I've tried using both, and Drupal seems to be structured much more to drop in modules and have it do whatever you want just alright, while WordPress is designed specifically to be a blogging system, thus it's extra good at doing that.
Nobody's stopping them from trying to use a combination of the two if they desire so, either. But I'm not sure how much they really need a blogging CMS.
Before spambots start taking advantage of it, it can at least be used to measure how many people like or were looking for certain sites. That way, the better quality results can go to the top of the results a bit more.
So there will be more computers with crappy integrated graphics.
Yes, with a but. Those who just need to work with higher resolutions, very basic hardware acceleration and/or specialized/optimized tasks better suited by a GPU will benefit from this. A lot of laptops will probably have an *actual* graphics card running alongside them, which means several things:
- Regular users (like gamers) will also benefit from the integrated graphics as they can be used to further improve a game's or task's performance. - Very low-budget or business-oriented laptops will be cheaper because they don't need/have the external GPU. - A laptop can be set to a VERY low-powered mode where the external GPU is simply turned off, saving battery time so someone can do his work on just the battery longer. They can switch out of the low-powered mode when they actually need a decent graphics card.
So it's not *just* integrated graphics. This time, it's integrated into the CPU and it's able to both replace actual GPUs and perform extra processing tasks.
I don't enjoy reduced page functionality (I know, that's bad design, but Twitter doesn't even work without JS turned on anymore... They should be ashamed).
Kill off? Isn't Adobe trying to create a new future for its cash cow instead by also making it usable for that new cool thing everybody's talking about? If they stuck to just Flash, THEN they would be killing off one of their cash cows as the future of Flash is a bit more unsure than the future of HTML5.
Wait, really? Vector animation has actually been one of the choppier performing things on my computer, and it seemingly got worse with each Flash release... I remember when Flash 5 and 6 vector animations ran just fine on my PC. Try that now. I can't make it not choppy if things get only a little too complex.
A year old laptop is plenty already to make it run sluggish here and there. Mileage may vary depending on your system. For me, it mostly works fast except for the add-on manager.
Some people forget how certain parts of grammar work. No biggie, just remind them how it works.
In other news: Bourbon prices go up 300%.
...to see a dance of spaghetti sort.
You're forgetting that this is also (presumably) a news site.
drivers
Let's correct that to good drivers for modern hardware. The Linux kernel has a lot more drivers than Win7 does.

You're assuming the one goal of Linux (and by that, I mean the community around Linux and other FOSS projects) is to beat MS
And why shouldn't he? He's just using the same assumption the article makes, no matter if he personally thinks that should be the goal or not.

A new computer is more expensive.
Monopoly where? They're trying out new markets. They don't have a monopoly in most of them.
More precisely, I'll rip your head off and shit down your neck.
Apparently you're flaming because you find the new Firefox good and are pointing out some stuff. Oh, Slashdot...
No, it's as radioactive as a thirtysome.
Did your intended message get through? Then it doesn't matter. "Performant" raises questions about what the author means, however.

Only as far as DirectX is a religion.
...made me think they meant the creators of the game creation tool Game Maker. Gotta watch out how you use capitalization.
And IE? The score varies depending on your computer and available CPU power, too.
Report a bug or something. Chrome and Chromium have generally been working just fine in Linux for ages now.
