Don't you people have _ANY_ pride!? You bash the DCMA, SSSA(or whatever it is called) and all the others, but then you don't boycott blizzard for killing bnetd?! You even write a god damn review!?
The masses want what they want because of aggresive marketing. If companies were owned by the state you wouldn't choose to make a bad product and then brainwash people into craving for it.
And this doesn't have to be undemocratic. After all, how democratic is it to have a handfull men controlling a company that has a BNP larger than many small countries(ms, aol, disney).
They are dictators, only they rule companies instead of nations, and have all the powers that mega-coprations have(which is a lot).
The problem is just that, the drugs are produced for profit.
If you put the enormous profit these big drug companies make into making the drugs cheaper, Brazil wouldn't have to do this.
I don't understand how you can prioritze your profit over other peoples lives.
But the root of the problem is that this kind of research is conducted by companies at all. If you fund research without trying to maximize profit, more drugs will be developed for e.g. malaria and other poor-mans-diseases and the drugs could be made cheaper!
This study is full of errors!
The author hasn't accounted for all the Swedish, Finnish, Danish and Norweigian children actually get to meet Santa Claus!
He comes on Christmas Eve and gives them presents in person.
He thinks American children are to fat and smelly so he doesn't tries to avoid them. He sneak in at night hoping the little brats won't wake up.
Libraries are run by the goverment. Democratic goverments are built upon the thought that everyone should be a part of the decision makin(like thats true), that everyone have the right to think and say what they want and that information should be free for all. If a library blocks certain kind of information, and you cant chose not to get it blocked, it is defying democracy. If you can chose if you want blocking or not its a differnet matter. And ofcourse if libraries where private they could do whatever they wanted.
Of course the owners should be able to delete content on thier servers. What if someone puts 500 megs of warez on your site and you cant delete it? As long as the site owners arent forced by stupid goverments there is no problem, We just need a country that doesnt have any laws about his and has good connectivity to the net.
If all our data is destroyed, except the really important stuff, future historicans will have a tuff time finding out how a normal person lived in our time. No records of what food we ate, what our pay was, no movies or music or anything. Maybe there will be a couple of copies of everthing left(a writer saves his works), but they will proboblay not survive(ie get backed up again) for very long.
I dont see why first post AC's are so horrible. Do your eyes hurt when you read one line with 11 ascii charters? Its a game. You win if you are first post, if you dont you lose, and if you think you got first post but someone else posted while you where composing your letter, you're a total llama.
I'm swedish too so i would want it to be a swede that inveted the mouse but i dont think he did. He invented something s imular to a mouse, but i think it could only move in vertical. Dont take my word for it though. I dont know about the color monitor, never heard of that.
There has been a study(i dont have a link) about why women seem to have better social skills than men. It has been shown that when growing up the parents talk much more with a girl child, giving here better social abitlities, she learns how humans interact. Does this maybe deattract women from science/tech, which to many seem lonley? Baby boys on the other hand are educated to become a good "family provider" in the stone age sense. They get toy hamers and toy guns, they learn how to build things(and destroy things). This gives them a lot of abstract thinking, they make plans for building things in thier heads. This maybe gives them a better sense for logic, which attracts them to science and tech?
