    i once got a parking ticket out there & i was beggin the guy to not tow the car (as it was not even mine) - he wouldnt even take my bribe of 500 rupees ~10(USD) (which i thought was plenty).

    Well they towed the car literally around the corner and asked for the 150 rupee fine. Thats uhh...3 USD, i pay 10x that to park legally here in the states.

    and ok, before someone berates me for the difference in cost of living out there - the 1$ - 50rupees is about right (a meal for 4 adults can easily cost 2000+ rupees, and comic book 50)

    i think you are confusing programs and programming. i think that programs are getting more complex, especially in a sense of data sources, and their slew of obstacles programming on the other hand, agreed, getting much less complex

    the Eris uses a-GPS - check how fast you get a fix when the phone is off the network.

    it is also waaaaaay faster to triangulate based on cell towers a couple of miles away
    vs.
    triangulating based satellites orbiting the earth (yes GPS is a trilateration / triangulation based technology [lets not get into semantics]) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_positioning_system#Basic_concept_of_GPS

    you should look into what they were able to do in the Haiti disaster relief. they used a simple mass txt message sent to all phones on the island, people who needed help were able to txt back, their positions triangulated. This was done with wide spread success

    yes, genocide brings its own set if obstacles to overcome, but your wide stroke of dismissal is a bit unfounded.

    is simple the same type of people who use camera phones to record the unsavory events in Tibet, or China, or India, or LA (Rodney King), or Albania, or Palestine, or ... well i guess i can stop now, hopefully the point been made.
