    You are correct. Windows is way better in that regard and will be until Linux can come up with unnified approach to APIs etc.. ( this will not happen in Linux just like it never happened in Unix during last 20+ years.)
    I don't mind spending couple hours installing and configuring Oracle on Unix box but I would never put up with doing the same for games ( specially when there is easy alternative available)
    In summary, let Unix does what it does best - serving stuff.
    Let Windows handle games.

    Linux easier to use ? You kidding yourself, beside Windows does not crash as often as you think. I yet to see people drop Windows because it crashes.

    Russians are extremely warlike people, just like Germans but without their sophistication (if German conquer some land usually they will civilize it , with Russians, everything they touch just gets fucked up - witness eastern Europe)

    So far only RH comes with Gnome as a default.
    Everything else is configured with KDE - and rightfully so !

    Yes, this might be a problem. Since one of the first games to be "ported" to X box will be Age Of Empires 2:AOK it will be interesting to see how they resolve this issue ( AOK requires at least 800x600 but practicaly is playable only at 1024x768 or higher )

    Mostly WM code, since this requires X specific code, everything else should port very easily.

    Sure, you type "startx" and then (if X shows up, that is) you open 4 xterms. Actually, that might be all you need but it is _not_ intuitive interface.

    Of course, using computers requires skills. You know why ? because of inability of programmers to design extremely intuitive interface and , belive me, Linux ( or Unix) is not going to change that any time soon ( if anything Windows or Mac will be there first.)

    "Many developers" simply don't know C++ and this is precisely why they are supporting Gnome.
    Once you try C++ GUI approach it is hard to justify going back to old C days ..

    In the case of Motorola they were actually correct releasing completely separate distribution. Since this is very unique version of Linux it simply makes sense to package it differently. It would also make life easier for people who actually want to use since there is a lot less to worry about then it would be if they had to rebuild standard distribution.

    The fact that perception of danger was greater because this guy was black has nothing to do with racism !!!
    It is blacks who created this perception by engaging in crimes therefore it is natural for police officer to be on higher alert in this kind of situation.
    I am not saying white people do not commit crimes, but statistics speak the truth.

    Long odds for this to happen in Linux community.
    For this kind of standard you need central body with power of enforcing the rules. MS does it ( for example their "Desigend for Windows 95" sticker.)

    Windows ? I think you aproached this OS with wrong expectations. Sure, if first thing you do is open DOS window then , no shit, compared to Unix , it sucks big time.
    However, when "used as directed" Windows is quite usefull.

    Well, for example RH doesn't really belong any more to "community". They have obligations to their stock holders and if making Linux mass-market product will enhance their profits, then this is what they have to do.
    BTW. Linux as a kernel has not much to do with GUIs, X etc ...

    There are SRPMs which are not much more than compressed source files. You can do anything you want with these. In some cases binary RPMs are simply easier to use ( specially if your box is RPM based and you want to quickly upgrade something)
